For the past two years,we have faced the unique challenge of hatching ostrich eggs,a process that demands patience and resilience, each incubation season has brought its own set of trials from managing temperature and humidity levels to carefully monitoring there development.
Despite facing disappointment along the way we have never let those hurdles define our journey, instead we embrace the learning opportunities presented by each setback, adjusting methods, researching best practices and seeking advice from experts.
Now as we prepare for another incubation cycle, our hearts are filled with hope, because we know every attempt brings us closer to the day when we see these eggs hatch, our determination to try again is a testament to our passion for farming and belief that success will come.

Moral :Never give up on your dreams!!Remember every great farmer has stories of struggles;it’s the perseverance and commitment to keep going that leads to success!!

Poultry respiratory diseases can be a significant concern during hot summer months. High temperatures can stress poultry, making them more susceptible to respiratory infections and diseases. Here is a summary of some common poultry respiratory diseases and their treatments during summer:

1. Infectious Bronchitis (IB): IB is a highly contagious respiratory disease caused by a Coronavirus. It affects chickens of all ages and can cause a drop in egg production. Vaccination is the primary method of prevention, but supportive care, such as maintaining good ventilation and providing clean water and feed, can help infected birds recover.

2. Infectious Coryza: Infectious Coryza is a respiratory disease caused by the bacterium Avibacterium paragallinarum. Infected birds may exhibit nasal discharge, facial swelling, and a decrease in egg production. Antibiotic treatment is often needed to control the infection. Isolation of infected birds and implementing good biosecurity measures are crucial to prevent further spread.

3. Newcastle Disease (ND): ND is a viral respiratory disease that can cause high mortality rates in poultry. Symptoms can include respiratory distress, nervous system disorders, and a drop in egg production. Vaccination is vital to prevent Newcastle Disease outbreaks. Infected birds should be culled, and strict biosecurity measures should be implemented to prevent its spread.

4. Mycoplasmosis: Mycoplasmosis is caused by the bacteria Mycoplasma gallisepticum and Mycoplasma synoviae. Symptoms include respiratory distress, swollen sinuses, and decreased productivity. Antibiotic treatment is often used to control the infection, but complete eradication is challenging. Vaccinating birds and improving management practices can help prevent the disease.

5. Avian Influenza (AI): Avian Influenza is a highly contagious viral disease that affects both wild and domestic poultry. It can cause severe respiratory distress, high mortality rates, and pose a risk to human health. Strict biosecurity protocols are necessary to prevent AI transmission, and infected birds should be culled to prevent further spread.

Treatment for poultry respiratory diseases often involves supportive care, such as maintaining good ventilation, providing clean water and feed, and administering appropriate medications, including antibiotics or antiviral drugs, as prescribed by a veterinarian. Additionally, implementing strict biosecurity measures, such as limiting visitors, practicing proper quarantine procedures, and disinfecting equipment, can help prevent the spread of diseases.

It is essential to consult with a veterinarian for accurate diagnosis, appropriate treatment options, and guidance on disease prevention strategies specific to your location and flock management practices.

Below is a an example of how an infected chicken looks like, and some of the medication good for treatment.

Alot of people might outlook, fencing up a farm when starting out and might prove to be expensive. Here we share some knowledgeable information of some of the most important reasons below:

1. Protection of Livestock: Fencing will keep your livestock safe and protected. It will prevent stray animals from entering your farm and attacking your livestock, while also keeping your animals from wandering off and getting lost or injured.

2. Keeping Out Unwanted Visitors: Fencing discourages unwanted visitors from entering your farm, such as burglars or other intruders. It acts as a deterrent and helps to keep your property and animals safe.

3. Property and Landmarks Protection: Fencing helps to create a clear boundary between your farm and surrounding properties, marking your land and preventing encroachment by neighbors or trespassers.

4. Effective Grazing Management: Fencing can help you manage the grazing of your animals by subdividing your land. This allows you to rotate the grazing areas, which can improve the health of your livestock and control the spread of parasites.

5. Minimize Crop Damage: Fencing can help to minimize crop damage by keeping grazing animals away from your crops and allowing you to control the movement of livestock around your farm.

Overall, fencing a farm is a necessary measure to ensure the safety and protection of your livestock, as well as your crops, property, and landmarks.

We hope this is insightful, for those starting up.
