Rest in peace, Roger Lilley, former editor of Energize magazine
It is with great sadness I must advise that Roger Lilley, a friend, colleague and former editor of Energize magazine, passed away on 9 February 2024 following complications after heart surgery.
Roger Lilley joined EE Publishers from NXP Semiconductors / Philips SA to take up the position of editor of Energize magazine in early 2013, and this proved to be one of the best appointments we ever made.
Roger was a quiet professional who just put his head down and got stuck into things without any kind of fuss. As an electrical technologist, Roger was truly a problem solver, not a problem maker, and he dealt quietly and efficiently with all the challenges and tasks assigned to him in an incredibly dedicated manner.
He always got the job done on time by solving or working around any issues arising, in order to meet tight and demanding publishing deadlines.
Roger was also very well-liked by his peers at EE Publishers as he was sociable and friendly, and was always approachable, helpful and willing to share information and the solutions he used to deal with any problem or another that may arise. He also worked seamlessly and collaboratively with his colleagues in the advertising sales department and the production/publishing department.
Roger was one of the quickest and most diligent of those working in the editorial department, and it was an absolute pleasure and indeed a privilege and honour to have known him, to have worked with him, and to have had him on the staff of EE Publishers as an editor.
When EE Publishers closed at the end of November 2019, the titles Energize and EngineerIT were sold to Now Media, and I had absolutely no hesitation in recommending that Now Media take on Roger Lilley as editor of Energize under the new publisher. I know that Roger’s time at Now Media from the beginning of 2020 until his tragic passing on 9 February 2024 was equally appreciated.
On behalf of my co-director at EE Publishers, Irene Blythe, and myself, as well as the former staff of EE Publishers, I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to Roger’s wife, children, family, friends and associates.
And to Roger, may I say:
Roger, you were an inspiration to us, and we thank you most sincerely for the wonderful times we had together. Go gently into the good night, and rest in peace.
