The iconic Dune 45 in Namibia! 🌟 Rising 170 meters high, Dune 45 is one of the most famous sand dunes in the Namib Desert and offers some of the most spectacular sunrise views you can imagine.

We did not climb it since we had our share of dune climbing earlier at Deadvlei. Have you ever climbed a sand dune or is it on your adventure list? Share your experiences in the comments!

Deadvlei, just a short distance from Sossusvlei, is an eerie and captivating spot. It’s a smaller, ancient pan surrounded by some of the highest dunes in the world. What makes Deadvlei unique is its ghostly appearance—dried, dead trees stand in stark contrast to the white clay pan and the towering red dunes. The combination of these elements creates a dramatic and hauntingly beautiful scene. 🌿🏜️

The NWR Sesriem Campsite in Namibia! Nestled near the entrance to the iconic Sossusvlei, this campsite offers the perfect base for exploring the Namib Desert.

After a day of adventure, there's nothing quite like sitting around a campfire under the vast Namibian sky.

The breathtaking Sesriem Canyon in Namibia! This natural wonder, carved by the Tsauchab River over millions of years, offers a stunning glimpse into the geological history of the region. 🌍✨

Walking through the narrow, winding passages of the canyon, I was amazed by the towering rock walls and the play of light and shadows. It's a perfect spot for hiking, photography, and soaking in the serene beauty of the Namib Desert.

Leaving Betta Campsite behind we were now on our way to Sesriem. Next and on the road we had some incredible animal and landscape sightings. In Namibia the Road is part of the destination! What do you enjoy the most on a trip in Namibia?

The Betta Campsite was one of the great surprises on our trip! We thought it was just going to be a stopover camp. We were wrong, it was most likely one of the best campsites on our trip! The campsites are fantastic and neat. You even have your own deck.



We were then spoilt with a sunset donkey cart ride! Driving into the sunset this was absolutely fantastic!

Visited the fascinating Duwisib Castle on our Namibia Tour. Built in 1909 by Baron Captain Hans Heinrich von Wolf, this grand castle stands as a testament to Namibia's rich and diverse history. Its unique architecture and intriguing past make it a must-see for any traveler.

Unfortunately, when we arrived, the castle was closed, and there was no one around. Even though I couldn't explore the interior, just seeing the castle's impressive exterior and imagining its stories was a highlight of my trip.

The iconic Diaz Cross in Lüderitz! 🏞️ This historical monument marks the spot where Portuguese explorer Bartolomeu Dias first set foot on the Namibian coast in 1488. Standing there, it's impossible not to feel the weight of history and the spirit of adventure that drove those early explorers. The rugged beauty of the surrounding landscape is simply breathtaking.

A visit to the Southern Part of Namibia will not be complete without a visit to the fascinating town of Kolmanskoppe. There are so many stories here. From the newish town hall to the Hospital and then you have the ice factory as well as the bakery. This is a place where you can and should spent hours!

Early Morning views over Luderitz. With the sun rising they are loading a ship with some sort of ore with the Lighthouse keeping watch over the harbor. Also some smaller (fishing?) ships floating on the ocean.

Luderitz is a town full of history and the German influence can be seen in the design of many of the buildings. One can walk between these houses for hours. The church has this amazing view over the Atlantic Ocean.

One of the beaches close to Luderitz is the Agate Beach. We did not spend much time here since there was no one else on the beach except a dodgy character that was trying to look into the car.

Our next stop was Luderitz. My first impression was the Luderitz is a lot more industrial than for example Swakopmund. We were expecting cold and windy weather here, but is turned out to be warm without too much wind.

Some more daytime pictures of the campsite at Klein-Aus Vista Lodge. Remember to bring your solar panels since there is no electricity. At least there is plenty sunshine in this part of the world. They also have a couple of hiking trails. for these you need a permit that you can buy at the reception.
