MEET MEZZO SOPRANO
~ VERAMARIE ~

Veramarie’s mastery of her exceptional vocal talents have taken her to some of the world’s most prominent classical music concert halls in Germany, Austria and the United States.

Veramarie enrolled at the Technikon Pretoria for a National Diploma in Performing Art (Opera), where she was awarded the Pretorium Trust and SAMRO bursaries, the Morrison trophy and bursary, and the prestigious Chancellor’s Medal. Therafter, she continued with her studies at the University of Cape Town.

In 1998 she was invited by the San Francisco Conservatory of Music to sing the role of Cherobino in Le Nozze Di Fiagaro at their summer workshop, and a year later she was selected to sing in Mimi Coertse’s ‘Debut with Mimi’. She was also chosen to become member of The Black Tie Ensemble, and to join Mimi’s Bel Canto Ensemble as one of only six singers.

As a soloist and member of these prestigious ensembles Veramarie toured the country, and performed with numerous orchestras and conductors, including Maestro Richard C**k. She was, furtermore, one of two singers who were invited to join Pretty Yende’s South African Concert Series under the baton of Maestro Masote.
In collaboration with L'avant-scène opéra and Reakopana Opera Festival, Veramarie performed the role of The Old Lady from Bertstein’s ‘Candide’ and Ernestina from ‘L’occasione Fa Il ladro’.

While opera remains her first love, Veramarie also enjoys exploring different genres and styles of singing which is evident in her first album, Stardust. She is signed with Markon Record Label, and is currently working on a new light-classical / cross-over album.

Veramarie enjoys her work as vocal coach, guiding young singers and choirs, and assisting them with their vocal training, productions and studio recordings. “Being able to express myself through my art brings me great joy and satisfaction,” says Veramarie.
