Lerato explores Monequ's childhood and family upbringing; her influential role in advocating for Deaf awareness in society; and her drive to achieve big dreams.

We wish Monequ all the best as she represents SA in Poland for the Miss Deaf Universe Pageant in November 2024!! 🇿🇦 🌟

We discover how the MDSA Pageant has changed her life and helped her overcome low self-esteem, to become the confident woman she is today.

Monequ will also represent SA 🇿🇦 🤟 on the global stage at the Miss Deaf Universe 2024 pageant in Poland from 22 November to 2 December.

It was an honour interpreting for the lovely Monequ Edwards - Miss Deaf South Africa 2023, on GROOTfm 90.5 Die GROOT Ontbyt with Jennifer Myburgh Presenter and Pierre Breytenbach

Monequ boldly shared her pageant journey as she will represent South Africa on the global stage in November at the Miss Deaf Universe 2024, Poland. 🇿🇦😃

This also comes as we celebrate the historical one year milestone since SASL was recognised as a 12th official language at the Union Buildings - promoting inclusivity, linguistic and cultural rights of the Deaf community in SA.

The things you don't see... 😅

It takes an entire team to make big productions and events a success. What often looks glamorous, actually involves early call times, waiting patiently to be helped and taking specific instructions from the creative director "Hands up, move back a bit, step to the right..."

So many different gadgets, monitors, cables and lights - it's fascinating!

Experience has taught me to stay calm and co-operate; everyone is doing their job and no one is special. Be a TEAM PLAYER! ⭐️
