Home Affairs investigations have found preliminary evidence of fraud committed by Chidimma Adetshina's mother.

The Department of Home Affairs is investigating the citizenship of Chidimma Adetshina, a contestant in the upcoming Miss SA event, based on a request from the event organizers.

The investigation, which has expanded in scope, has found prima facie indications of fraud and identity theft allegedly committed by Adetshina's mother in 2001.

This fraud affected an innocent South African mother who couldn't register her child.

The Department is also investigating any officials involved and considering the legal implications for Adetshina's citizenship.

They plan to press criminal charges against those implicated and emphasize the need for digital modernization to prevent future fraud.

The investigation will continue, and a final update will be provided upon its conclusion.

President assents laws advancing ease of doing business

President Cyril Ramaphosa has signed into law amendments to the Companies Act of 2008 that promotes the ease of doing business and imposes greater corporate transparency on the earnings gap between the highest and lowest paid persons in a company.

The Companies Amendment Bill and Companies Second Amendment Bill referred to the President for assent jointly constitute initiatives by government to make the conduct of business less burdensome, to tighten the pursuit of delinquent directors or prescribed officers for wrongdoing, including state capture and addresses disparities in earnings.

The Companies Amendment Act as signed by the President streamlines company law to be clear, user-friendly and less burdensome on the conduct of business. This reform is important for the efficient and effective conduct of the domestic economy as well as the attraction of foreign investment.

The Act is also aimed at achieving equity between directors and senior management on the one hand and shareholders and workers on the other hand.

“In addition, the law addresses public concerns regarding high levels of inequalities in society by introducing better disclosure of senior executive remuneration and the reasonableness of the remuneration. The law requires the preparation of a remuneration report by all public and State-owned companies in respect of the previous financial year,” said the Presidency in a statement.

The partnerships with National Lotteries, Old Mutual, Sappi Ngodwana Mill, FOREK Institute of Technology, Trac, Nelspruit Crushers, and Readymix will henceforth result in substantial revitalization of the school.

The revitalization will include repairing the leaking roof, fixing ceilings, repainting classrooms, constructing additional ablution facilities, building a new kitchen, and enhancing the staff room.

This collective effort embodies the spirit of former President Nelson Mandela and his vision of a South Africa where no one is left behind.

The MEC for Education, Ms Cathy Dlamini
requests parents and guardians to register children for schooling in 2025.

Parents may do so before 30 August 2024 and are urged to register their children in schools within their residential areas.

To register, applicants must request an application form from a school, fill it in, and attach copies of their children’s Birth Certificate, Road to Health Card and ID copies of parents.

No learner may be refused admission on the basis that his/her parents are unable to pay school fees, or do not subscribe to the religious policy of the school.

In the event that a parent is not satisfied with the feedback from the school, that parent must not hesitate to contact the nearest circuit office.

Together, let us invest in the future of our children and our community.

Your involvement and support is crucial in shaping the next generation of leaders.

No learner must be left behind.
