Producers have the ability to manipulate samples in various ways, including flipping and remaking them. This is a common practice within the music industry and is generally accepted as part of the Hip hop culture. However, what baffles me is when a producer/Artist not only uses the same concept for a song, but also decides to keep the original name. This lack of creativity and originality is something that I have a major issue with. It feels like a lazy approach to music production and does a disservice to both the original artist and the listeners.
When a producer takes a sample and flips it in a unique and creative way, it can breathe new life into the music. It adds depth and dimension to the track, showcasing the producer's skills and vision. Remaking a sample entirely is also a way to put a fresh spin on the original material, allowing for experimentation and innovation. These are all valid methods of using samples in music production.
However, when a producer/Artist simply takes the same concept from another song and reuses it without adding anything new or innovative, it becomes repetitive and uninspired. It shows a lack of effort and imagination on the part of the producer/Artist. Naming the new track the same as the original further diminishes any sense of originality or creative input.
Music is meant to be a form of expression, a way for artists and producers to share their unique perspectives and creativity with the world. When producers resort to recycling ideas and concepts without adding their own personal touch, it cheapens the art form. It becomes more about replication than creation.
In conclusion, while I appreciate the flexibility and creativity that producers bring to the table when working with samples, I believe it is essential to uphold a certain level of originality and respect for the source material. Using the same concept for a song and retaining the same name shows a lack of creativity and originality that detracts from the overall listening experience. Producers should strive to push boundaries, experiment with new ideas, and create music that is truly their own.

I have so many mixed feelings writing this statement because of the long relationship I've had with DJ OB Gwala for many years. However, it's very important to note publicly that LYRICISM STILL MATTERS EP IS NOT A TRUE REPRESENTATION OF MY WORK AS RAW BEATS.

I've spent a lot time and money to upskill myself as a Producer & an Audio engineer, learning and working with the Best Engineers in this Country only for my Brand to be tarnished by poor quality release.

Lyricism Still Matters EP is not a true representation of my work. The files used are not properly mixed and mastered, and OB decided to release the project anyway. Vanish is the only song that was engineered properly. Other songs are mixed down files which required a lot of work to be done on them. I've had numerous engagements with OB about this and he was never interested in doing the right thing. To date, he still hasn’t signed the Split Sheets for the production I've contributed to these songs, only excuses I've received.

As a result, I had to write this statement publicly to protect my name and BRAND I've worked to so hard to build. I've always been vocal about the quality of audio engineering, and the release of these songs goes against everything I've stood up for. It hurts me, and it's painful that my name has to be associated with such. Hence it's very important for me to CLEAR MY NAME and EasternVille Music.

It's been a rough road for a lot of people to ride on these past few days, maybe since the beginning of life, a mixed of sad and happy days, a mixed of dark and bright days, a mixed of full and empty days, a mixed of real and fake ones too, but as human beings we were made to fight, lead and conquer, the strength vested within each one of us is one we tend to take for granted...however we soldier on and fight through our pain and sorrows coz we're war ready, till our last breath🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

With this song can I at least speak to someone fighting battles beyond anyone's sight, tried my best not to dig in way too deep into emotions but still touch a soul or two.

~ A DREAM THAT BECAME A REALITY | RAW BEATS ~

Tears of joy almost filled the Vaal River on Saturday the 1st of October when two songs produced by the incredible Boom-Bap Specialist Raw Beats were performed on the main stage of the biggest Hip-Hop Festival in Africa, Back To The City.

Vanish by DJ OB Gwala featuring LandmarQue and Golden Shovel, as well as True Religion by Raw Beats featuring LandmarQue blasted the speakers of the on the Main Stage as part of LandmarQue’s Live Performance set.

True Religion was recently released yet it has gone over 10 000 Streams across Digital Stores. The challenge has also been keeping the streets buzzing challenging rappers to sharpen their pen-game. This shows the Power, Impact, as well as Influence that Raw Beats has in Hip-Hop as a Producer.

The greatest highlight of SA Hip-Hop happened when LandmarQue brought Golden Shovel as a Surprise Act to perform Vanish together for the 1st time. This is a collaboration that has been long overdue, and has been talked about within the circles of Hip-Hop Heads which was made possible by DJ OB Gwala. Raw Beats then stepped up to the challenge to produce one of the greatest Boom-Bap songs our generation, loaded with lyricism from the Best Lyricists of our generation, the Gods.

A greater highlight occurred when Father TeQ performed Sbong'uLife (also produced by Raw Beats) on the Power Play 10k Challenge Stage, and eventually winning the R10 000 as a Top MC.

This all happened on the biggest Hip-Hop Platform in Africa. A dream that became a reality to Raw Beats as a Producer, to see his work being celebrated on one of the greatest platforms for Hip-Hop, the biggest Hip-Hop Festival in the whole of Africa.
