MINISTERIAL IMBIZO HELD IN IPELEGENG TO ADDRESS COMMUNITY CONCERNS

On Tuesday, 14 May 2024, the South African Police Service (SAPS) held a Ministerial Imbizo in Ipelegeng, Mamusa local municipality. This event aimed to engage with community members about their concerns regarding the reporting of criminal activities to the police.

In attendance were Deputy Minister of Police, Cassel Mathale, North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Kenneth Morolong, North West MEC for Community Safety and Transport Management, Sello Lehari, and Executive Mayor of Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati. Officials from the municipality, including Mamusa Mayor Mittah Chelechele and the Speaker Doctor Batsi, were also present.

The Imbizo provided a platform for open dialogue between the police and the community, focusing on improving trust and cooperation in crime reporting and prevention.

North West Department of Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation

14-year-old Sewelo Lenyatso, a Grade 7 learner from Kamogelo Primary School, showcased his "water is life, sanitation is dignity" painting during the opening of Migdol modular library. This breathtaking artwork also won him second place in the "Baswa le metsi" Provincial competition organized by the Department of Water and Sanitation earlier this year.

ACSR head of Department Mr Itumeleng Mogorosi pledged the Department's support to this young man's work and invited to be part of this year Provincial freedom day event to take place on the 29th April in Lehurutshe stadium. Mogorosi requested Sewelo to paint him a portrait which will be shown to the acting Premier and members of the Executive Committee.
