BREAKING NEWS:

“Past alcohol bans are irrational, invalid and to be set side”

The Beer Association of SA has filled legal papers to court to declare government’s past alcohol sales bans "irrational, invalid and to set aside". It says government failed to provide evidence to support its decisions to ban liquor sales. In reaction to escalating cases of covid-19 and imminent fourth wave, the Association says new alcohol ban would be the final nail in the coffin of the liquor industry. It is estimated that previous alcohol sales bans caused a R60.7 billion loss to the economy with more than 165 000 people lost their jobs.

The Ballito Rage event has been cancelled after 36 people tested positive for Covid-19, BUT the Cape Town’s Plett Rage festival is still scheduled to start tomorrow. South Africa recorded 4373 new Covid-19 cases and 21 deaths over the past 24-hour reporting cycle.
