We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of Brake & Tyre Watch in Durban, which brought together RTI, Metro Police, Harbour Police, and Fire Department members for an educational and interactive 2-day training. This event fostered close cooperation between various departments, all dedicated to enhancing road safety.Over the course of the training, four trucks were inspected, resulting in three significant failures. VIOLENT PROTESTS AROUND MTHATHA - AVOID TOTALLY.
13h30 – May 27: If any transporters have trucks heading towards Mthatha – not only on the N2 or R61 but from any direction – stop them and get them to return to depots. Some trucks were earlier today caught up in the violent protests and have been looted with one truck being burnt. The protests have been going on from early this morning. FleetWatch has it on good authority that neither the private security companies nor the SAPS were able to get near to them due to the violent protestors. This is not a protest related to any trucking issue nor to the elections. It is a taxi issue which has turned very violent and made the total area unsafe. So please keep your trucks away until the situation is stabilised – whether that happens today or tomorrow is uncertain. As it stands, it is a total danger area, STAY AWAY.
