On this hashtag , South Africa faces a stark reality: a hashtag #๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ง๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฆ๐๐ฆ๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐ง๐๐ฒ . Local publications are disappearing, creating โnews desertsโ and leaving communities in the dark. The Association of Independent Publishers (AIP) is fighting for our local press.
Stand with them during the month of May by supporting the initiative.

* Combats misinformation with trusted, fact-based reporting
* Creates jobs and trains future journalists, strengthening the media landscape
๐๐ก๐๐ญ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ง ๐๐จ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ฆ๐๐ค๐ ๐ ๐๐ข๐๐๐๐ซ๐๐ง๐๐:
* Subscribe to your local publication (online or print!) - Support journalism you trust.
* Encourage local businesses to advertise in local publications - help local businesses thrive while keeping local news alive.
* Donate to your favourite local publication (if they accept donations) - every bit helps!
* Engage with local news on social media (but be critical!) - Stay informed and hold them accountable for accurate reporting.
Together, we can ensure a future where South African communities have strong, independent local news sources. Letโs not let our local journalism disappear! hashtag hashtag hashtag hashtag
