In the opening chapter of his book, "The Journey of the Soweto Entrepreneur since 1905", Dr. Thami Mazwai captures the reader's attention with compelling narratives and insightful reflections from the past. Mazwai emphasizes that:

“The book is primarily inspirational, aimed at galvanizing black people into traditional entrepreneurial action to emulate what their pioneers did to conquer the apparent misery in black communities. Specifically, it appeals to the local middle class, young and ambitious black Sowetans, entrepreneurs and students aspiring to become entrepreneurs, and encourages them not to depend solely on government handouts for the eradication of poverty, unemployment and inequality (PUI) which have been bedeviling the black communities, but to take active steps to free themselves from hunger and deprivation.”
