Kwarts het met hartseer verneem dat een van ons geliefde skrywers, Sanna van der Walt, vroeg in Desember haar lang stryd teen kanker verloor het. Sanna was van skooldae af lief vir skryf. Sy het drie boeke by Kwarts gepubliseer. Haar boeke het vele mense se lewens aangeraak met hul positiewe en inspirerende boodskappe. Sanna het soveel empatie vir ander gehad, sy was werklik ‘n besondere persoon. Ons medelye gaan uit aan haar geliefdes. Mag sy in vrede rus.

Congratulations are in order for Cathy Donald, author and medical doctor from Somerset West in the Western Cape; her novel, Silence of the Shadows, has been awarded the Jury Prize at the Milan International Literary Awards! Cathy will be attending the prestigious awards ceremony in Milan soon and receiving her award in person. Cathy has published three novels with Kwarts, and we are very proud of this well-deserved achievement!

Nog 'n lywige skooljaarblad agter die blad!
Vir die afgelope ses jaar het ons elke jaar die jaarblad ontwerp vir Hoërskool Hoopstad, 'n bedrywige skool in die Vrystaatse platteland. Dis 'n groot taak, maar ook baie spesiaal om hierdie skool se kleurvolle aktiwiteite en prestasies vas te vang in 'n publikasie wat leerders met hulle kan saamvat om die herinneringe van jul skooljaar te bewaar. Ons is trots en dankbaar om dit te kan doen. Geluk en sterkte aan al die Hoopies!
