*Word for Today: Kept from Defeat.*

*Today's Scripture: “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail…” Luke 22:31–32.*

Jesus warned Peter that the enemy was focused on him and was going to attack him and do his best to take him down. If Jesus had stopped there, that could be worrisome. “Oh man, I have a big battle on my hands.” But Jesus went on to say, “But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail.” Jesus was saying in effect, “The enemy is coming against you to distract you, to discourage you, to get you off course, but don’t worry. I’m praying for you, and I’m going to strengthen you. I’m going to keep you from being defeated. I’m the God who overrules.”

_When life gets tough and things come against you, you have an advantage. You’re not on your own. Jesus is at the right hand of the Father right now praying for you so your faith will not fail. It’s great to have people praying for you, friends standing in faith, but when you have the risen Savior praying for you, you cannot be defeated._

*Prayer for Today: _“Father, thank You that I am under the open windows of heaven. Thank You that You are pouring out blessings so abundant that I won’t have room enough to receive it all. I believe and declare that You are going to rain down favor, good breaks, and creativity. In Jesus’ Name......Amen.”_*

*Word for Today: Night Seasons.*

*Today's Scripture: _“I, too, have been assigned months of futility, long and weary nights of misery.”_ Job 7:3.*

As it was with other Old Testament heroes of the faith, Job went through a night season. Out of nowhere his whole world was turned upside down through the very painful loss of his sons and daughters, the loss of his business, and a crushing illness. Job did what many of us do in difficult, heartbreaking times. He focused on the problem, magnified what was wrong, and let it overwhelm him. Job was saying, “I’ve been assigned to nights of misery. This is how my story ends. I will never again experience pleasure.” The mistake he made was thinking it was permanent.

_What you’re going through may be difficult, but the good news is that you are going through it. As was true for Job, it’s not your final destination. It’s a night season, not a night lifetime. God wouldn’t allow it if it were going to keep you from your destiny. He has you in the palms of His hands. He already has the solution, and the breakthrough is headed your way._

*Prayer for Today: _"“Father, thank You that You are the God of my night seasons. I believe that no matter what comes my way, it’s not a surprise to You, and You still have me in the palms of Your hands. I believe that though it may be dark now, breakthrough is coming. In Jesus’ Name.....Amen.”_*

*Today’s Scripture: _"But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy..."_*
*Acts 20:24*

Sometimes we think that the older we get, the more somber we should be and the less fun we should have. It's easy to let the pressures of life squeeze the joy away. If our life becomes all work, all responsibilities, all stress, and all dealing with problems, that's going to weigh you down, which is not God's plan. He created you with a sense of humor. You were made to laugh and have fun, to be responsible and good natured at the same time. Don't let yourself get sour and grumpy.

_The apostle Paul made it his goal to finish his race "with joy." If you don't have joy, if you're not good natured, if you don't laugh regularly, you're not going to finish your life the way God wants you to. Just because your physical body gets older doesn't mean your attitude has to get old because your spirit person, the real you inside, is ageless. You're going to live forever. Make up your mind to stay full of joy._

*Prayer for Today: _"Father, thank You that You created me with a sense of humor and with a way to release some of the stress I feel through laughter. Thank You that the real me inside is ageless and can rise above the pressures of life. Help me to walk in the fullness of Your joy today. In Jesus' Name.......Amen."_*

*Today’s Scripture: Psalm 119:71 _"My troubles turned out all for the best—they forced me to learn from your textbook."_*

When you understand the principle that God is going to use difficulties for your best, life gets much more freeing. You don’t get upset when things happen that you don’t like. You know God allowed it, and He’s going to use it for good. It’s a part of the process. He may be developing patience in you. Whatever it is, He has a purpose for it. Keep the right perspective; it’s all good.

_We’re not going to understand everything that happens and doesn’t happen in our lives, but God sees the big picture. He knows where the dead ends are, the shortcuts, the bumpy roads that are going to cause you heartache and pain. He’ll keep doors closed that you prayed would open because He knows going through them would be a waste of your time. God is asking, “Do you trust Me with your closed doors and unanswered prayers?” He’s getting you ready for the next level of your destiny._

*Prayer for Today: _“Father, thank You that You know best when it comes to the things I want and ask You for. Thank You that You are directing my steps and that You’ll take me through the things I don’t understand. It all may not feel good, but I declare that it is all good. In Jesus’ Name.......Amen.”_*

*Sunday 12th May.*

*Daily Cereals....🍵....*

*Word for Today: Break Down Gates of Bronze.*

*Today's Scripture: _“I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron…so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.”_ Isaiah 45:2–3.*

The prophet Isaiah said that God is going before you and will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron, meaning the things that have held you back for years. Addictions, lack, depression, and insecurity may have been in your family for generations. Thoughts will tell you, “Just accept it. This is just who you are.” God is saying, “I’m about to put an end to what’s holding you back.” That depression is not staying in your family line, that addiction is not going to keep being passed down, the struggle and lack are not your destiny. This is a new day. *The God who spoke worlds into existence is breaking gates of defeat, chains of mediocrity, chains of depression.*

_It’s good to remember the great things God has done, but God doesn’t want you to live off of yesterday’s victories. He is about to give you some new evidence, some fresh victories that you will know that He is your God and has summoned you by name._

*Prayer for Today: _“Father, thank You that You are the God who breaks the bronze gates that have held me back. Thank You for all the great things You have done for me and for all the new breakthroughs You are about to give me. I believe that You have summoned me by name. In Jesus’ Name...... Amen.”_*

*Word for Today: A Season of Yes.*

*Today's Scripture: _"Eli answered, “Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked of him.”_ 1 Samuel 1:17*

In 1 Samuel 1, a woman named *Hannah was unable to bear children, but she kept praying and believing year after year.*
To make matters even more difficult, her husband’s second wife had no problem conceiving and made fun of Hannah, making her feel as though something was wrong with her. When the prophet Eli saw Hannah at the temple praying in great anguish and tears, *he said that God had said yes to her prayer. She responded with her yes to His yes, and a year later she had her baby.*

_Maybe you’ve prayed and prayed about a need, but nothing’s changed. God is saying, “If you put your yes with My yes, I’ll turn the no around.” Is God waiting for your yes? Are you letting a no—a disappointment, a delay, the opinions of others—convince you that it’s not going to happen? This is a new day. *You are coming into a season of yes. You need to put your yes with God’s yes and watch what happens*._

*Prayer for Today: _“Father, thank You that one word of favor and blessing from You can turn a no into a yes. Thank You that I can put my yes with Your yes and see the no turn around. I believe and declare that I’m coming into a new day, a season of yes. In Jesus’ Name....... Amen.”_*

The Christian life is a battle and a march. In this warfare there is no release; the effort must be continuous and persevering. It is by unceasing endeavor that we maintain the victory over the temptations of Satan. Christian integrity must be sought with resistless energy and maintained with a resolute fixedness of purpose.
The precious graces of the Holy Spirit are not developed in a moment. Courage, fortitude, meekness, faith, unwavering trust in God's power to save, are acquired by the experience of years. By a life of holy endeavor and firm adherence to the right the children of God are to seal their destiny.
No one will be borne upward without stern, persevering effort in his own behalf. All must engage in this warfare for themselves; no one else can fight our battles.... ( A New Life 61&62 EG White)

Go forward, not in self-sufficiency and self-exaltation, yet filled with faith and hope and courage. Angels of God are guarding His faithful ones. If they keep the way of the Lord, they will receive all needed help. Much of the Lord's work has, in the beginning, been small, despised by those who desire to see it carried forward from the first with strength and importance. But the Lord must test His workers, many of whom are not able to bear success, who should it come to them, would exalt self. ( Upper Look EG White) - Wherever you are, however trying your circumstances, do not talk discouragement. The Bible is full of rich promises. Can you not believe them? When we go out to labor for souls, God does not want us to go a warfare at our own charges. What does this mean? It means that we need not go in our own strength, for God has pledged His word that He will go with us.—Historical Sketches, 128, 129 (1886).
