Thank you Bonné for your kind recommendation! We love that you love our books!

It's no secret that I've always loved animals... but during the lockdown of the pandemic I became crazy about birdwatching in my garden! I remember hearing a call between a pair of birds, and I wasn't too thrilled when I knew the call but couldn't identify them based on sound alone... beautiful crested barbets, yes, we're talking "twitcher" beginner stakes here! This made me pull out my Callfinder along with my Sappi birds book (also love Roberts and Newman's), and well, I've been hooked ever since!
I have a lot of fun in identifying birds this way. Fast forward a few years later and I was honoured when the publisher asked me for a quote for the Afrikaans and English versions of their new enhanced edition. I'm not a big one for endorsing products (and I'm not getting paid for this) but I do love the Callfinder, as I find it so practical. I got mine as a Christmas present all those years back (dankie Pa) and I know this would be a great one if any of you are looking...

Did you know that the Aloidendron dichotomum, commonly known as the Quiver Tree, is native to the Northern Cape of South Africa? This unique succulent can grow up to 9 meters tall and is named for the indigenous San people's use of its hollowed branches to make quivers for their arrows.
