Hou op om die bome uit te kap! Diertjies bly daarin.

Plant inheemse gras, struike en bome sover jy kan en los die indringers wat so baie water drink. Maak seker jou tuin is by-vriendelik.

Verklein jou voetspoor, kyk hoe jy jou uitgooigoed kan herwin heraanwend en heroorweeg.

As jy die winter n verwarmer wou gebruik, sien eers die prentjies in jou kop van steenkool wat uitgrawe word of ysbere wat verlore is oor smeltende ys. Oorweeg eerder n trui, LongJohn, mus, serp en/of kombers.

Wat is 'n "𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐒𝐰𝐚𝐧 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭"?🦢

Wel, in Europa was 'n wit swaan die standaard. Groot was hul verbasing dus toe reisigers terugkom van Australië af (aan die einde van die 1600's) en rapporteer dat swart swane redelik algemeen by die Ozzies is. 🤗

Die uitdrukking "swart swaan-gebeure" beteken dus iets is ongekend, onverwags, en skaars en het nogals 'n groot impak. Die uitdrukking word nie (sover ek weet) juis onder Afrikaanssprekendes gebruik nie maar in effek sal 'n "swartswaan-gebeurtenis" dan eerder volg met n uitdrukking soos "slaan my met n pap snoek, wie sou nou dit kon d**k". Soos die Israel–Hamas oorlog, 'n Tsunami of wat op 11 September in de VSA gebeur het en op plaaslike vlak wanneer dit sneeu in Pretoria en op 'n kleiner (hopelik positiewe noot) wanneer jou vriende jou verras met 'n indrukwekkende partytjie of onverwagse geskenk.

SANS 10400, Part C: Dimensions reads as follows:
4.4 Floor area
The overall plan area of any dwelling house shall be not less than:
a) 15 m² in the case of a temporary building,
b) 27 m² in the case of permanent category 1 buildings, or
c) 30 m² in the case of any other permanent building.

En so het Marika du Toit vanoggend opgewonde (maar bangerig) reggemaak het vir haar eerste dag as dosent in kunsgeskiedenis by Tukkies.

Natuurlik is ons super trots op haar, en meer nog or die nostalgie daarvan dat sy in die voetspore volg van Le Roux - onderwysers.

Ouma Kotie het self by Groenkloofkampus as onderwyser gekwalifiseer, en Oupa Peet le Roux was destyds dekades lank 'n dosent by die Technicon Skiereiland, en later vise-rektor. Marika se oom, Pieter Le Roux was aangewys as die mees gewilde dosent waar hy as spesialis-narkotiseur by Tygerberg Hospitaal gedien het, en kollegas sowel as studente vermaak het met sy skerp humor en interessante aanbieding van uitdagende materiaal.

Ek kan byvoeg dat Marika se ma, die uwe, ook die dosent-ding by Potch Universiteit Omgewingsdepartemente aangedurf het, maar oor my eie wedervaringe moet ek eerder nie te veel uitbrei nie! Ek het wel geleer dat daar min dinge is wat 'n onderwyser se vuur soveel blus soos traag staatsamptenare wat afgevaardig was om te gaan klas draf (dat hulle net tog meer kan uitmaak van hul vakgebied), maar eintlik eerder by Kentucky wou indraf. 🫤
