THE Price of petroleum products has been adjusted upwards with petrol having an upward adjustment of K34.19 per litre from K29.98 per litre while diesel has been adjusted from K29.96 per litre to K32.15 per litre.

Energy Regulation Board (ERB) Board Chairperson Reynolds Bowa attributed the increase to the depreciation of the kwacha.
He said the price review will be effective midnight today.

Mr Bowa noted that during the period under review, the prices of oil on the international market were relatively stable.

"The depreciation of the Kwacha has resulted in an increase in the domestic wholesale and pump prices of petroleum products with the exception of kerosene. The price of kerosene has been maintained on account of sufficient national stocks," he said.

Mr Bowa said the prices for petrol, diesel and jet A-1 have been adjusted to K34.19/litre, K32.15/litre and K32.69/litre, respectively.

He said the price of kerosene has been maintained at K20.44/litre.

“Based on the foregoing, the pump prices for February 2024 are as follows petrol from K29.98 to 34.19, Diesel from K29.96 to K32.15,” he said.

Mr Bowa said the Board remains committed to fostering an open and transparent environment in the fuel pricing process ensuring that the public and all stakeholders have access to relevant and comprehensive information.

Bally fires Barry!

President Hakainde Hichilema has with immediate effect terminated the appointment of Lieutenant
General Collin Barry as Zambia Airforce Commander.
President Hichilema has since thanked Lieutenant General Barry for his service to the Government of the Republic of Zambia and has wished him well his future endeavors.
The President has since appointed Major General Oscar Nyoni as Zambia Airforce Commander and has since promoted him to the substantive rank of Lieutenant General in the Zambia Airforce.
The President has also appointed Brigadier General Arthur Kalaluka as Zambia Airforce Deputy
Commander and has since promoted him to the substantive rank of Major General in the Zambia
Airforce.

SEVEN MORE BODIES RETRIEVED FROM SENSELI MINE

Seven more bodies have been retrieved from the collapsed Senseli Mine in Chingola.

Speaking during a press briefing in Chingola, Copperbelt Minister Elisha Matambo says the seven have already been identified by their families.

Mr. Matambo further says government and the families have agreed to hold a mass burial tomorrow Monday, 11th December and President Hakainde Hichilema is expected to be in attendance.

Since 1st December, rescue teams have managed to retrieve 11 dead bodies and one person alive, who is currently in Nchanga South Hospital.
