Congestion on the Tom Naude Bridge
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes due to two incidents on the Tom Naudé Bridge. This is the second incident on this stretch of road in less than a month. The first collision involves a taxi and a bakkie, while the second incident involves two bakkies. Emergency services are on the scene and motorists are urged to exercise patience.
Mitchell House Bell Ringing ceremony
Mitchell House recently hosted its bell-ringing ceremony to officially welcome Gr 8 learners to high school. Teacher Tlou Mash*tisho facilitated the programme, welcoming teachers, learners, and parents to this memorable event.
During the ceremony, the newly elected Gr 12 head girl, Mabetji Mankga, and head boy, Nick Koma, were officially introduced. Both delivered inspiring speeches to the “newcomers” of high school, encouraging them to dedicate the next four years to proving their commitment to themselves, their teachers, and their parents.
After ringing the bell, the Gr 8 learners were formally welcomed by the Gr 12 learners, who lined up beside the bell to drape their blazers over the newcomers as a symbolic gesture of integration into the high school community. Read more in this week's Polokwane Review!
The Capricorn District Municipality has obtained a clean audit in the 2023/24 financial year, cleared off its shortfalls by the Auditor General of South Africa recently.
Clean audits outcomes mean that the municipal grant received in a certain period was used according to the reasons for request or expectation by or from the Department of Treasury.
A truck carrying alcoholic beverages overturned on the N1 bypass near the Tweefontein interchange this morning. The truck was en-route to Thohoyandou from Pretoria. The driver lost control of the vehicle after two back trailer tyres burst. The road was wet at the time due to rainy conditions in Polokwane. The driver and the passenger, who was asleep, had no visible injuries and were yet to be attended by emergency medical services at around 09:45.
Heavy traffic continues on Limpopo’s roads as Christmas Day approaches. Long queues at the Nyl toll plaza has delayed travelling time for many motorists as well as heavy rain travelling to Polokwane. Motorists are urged to travel with caution and keep a safe following distance.
