The charecter behind it all is portrayed by non other than Yama Maseti who brings life to the older version charecter of the nameless girl. The word 'Monalisa' isn't actually her real name. It's a name that's given to her during her orphanage stay.Her real name is revealed on Season 2.

Monalisa - The Lost Child.
A girl with no name, no background - a Jane Doe, navigates from house to house trying to find her identity. Moving from house to house, she always leaves a dark mark behind. When her Guardian mother dies of an unexplainable death, no Police wants to be involved as they fear for their lives. A new Detective (Mtibela) is given the case. What she founds out about the girl changes the whole scenario and has a web connected to everyone in the world.
