Last year, through the worst of the winter floods and Cape storms, journalist Julie Bourdin and .fitzgerald took to the ocean for . Despite constantly navigating big swell, bad visibility and icy waters it was such a special assignment; “Taming the ocean; a vast segregated coastline”

Here are some of Verity’s favourite moments from the story: We joined the to see the wonderful work they do and meet some of the youngsters experiencing their ocean for the first time.

Every Queen has her Crown.

“Every shoot is a challenge, every shoot has its own little story. On this part of the project the challenge was to create a hairstyle around the theme “traditional African powerful woman”. The challenge was to create two hairpieces to pose, because the twins had short, blonde hair. On the last slides you can see what the isolated hairpieces look like. I love mixing textures and shapes, with these two elements you can create endless pieces.”
