The White River Crossing centre (10 500 sqm) was officially opened on the 22nd of August in 2019.

This is a high profile shopping complex located on the R40 Madiba Drive that go straight through to Mbombela, Hazyview and Sabie.

The Chief Mgiyeni Khumalo street is one of the oldest streets in White River, which was previously known as the Mhlophemanzi and Wit Rivier in Afrikaans due to the high levels of kaolin in the river, which turned the colour of the water white.

Back then (1905+-) the dusty Mgiyeni Khumalo street was navigated by donkey carts, horses and mule-drawn wagons.

White River has been built by the citrus industry. Back (1926) in the day, this farming was the town’s primary source of income.

White River is now a home to many people coming from overseas, due to the lower temperatures and the easier access to tourist destinations such as the Kruger National park and the Panorama route.

The street is an entrance and exit towards the City of Mbombela and it's still the most dominant street in the town of White River.

Let's celebrate and draw inspiration from our very own Tebogo Michael Moipolai the founder and CEO of TMM, a company that specialises with event's production management, including stage, sound, lighting and more.

Mr Moipane is one of the most influential people in Mpumalanga, he had helped so many people to achieve their goals in the entertainment industry.

He has helped so many people through job creation, helped so many artists to be part of massive events, helped so many inspiring entrepreneurs within the province and abroad.

TMM equipment investment is estimated to be worth more than 6 million rand and has since executed more than 1 500 events in South Africa. Hiring countless permanent employees and many more seasonal employees in each event, including security officers, drivers and general workers.

As the Mbombela Youth (Development) we would like to testify that we have seen all the good works done by TMM in making dreams of young people achievable and we wish the whole team, all the best for the upcoming TMM Weekender Birthday Celebration which will take place in Lydenburg (Mashakeng stadium) this coming weekend (30 August to 01 September).

Born (1967) in Mpumalanga (Graskop; Hebron) let's draw inspiration from the legendary Africa Tsoai mostly known as Mr Maputla (Skeem sam) and Tsokotla (Mokgonyana Mmatswale)

He is an actor, entrepreneur, voice over artist, sound engineer, translator, producer, copywriter and taxi owner.

Mr Tsoai was raised by his grandmother in Meadowlands (Soweto) where he fell in love with acting from high school.

After matriculating, he studied graphic design at Rudolph College in Johannesburg. He was a self-taught fine arts enthusiast, and got his diploma in 1989 and did a sound engineering course at the Inhouse Records in 2000.

He started appearing as an extra in a number of military films shot in South Africa and his big acting break came in 1989 where he was cast in local drama called "Dawson Goes Home".

From there, the roles came flowing as he worked closely with the former Safritel, SABC’s in-house production arm which helmed many local shows at that time.

He led a role in Mokgonyana Matswale, Bophelo ke Semphekgo, Sepedi television dramas which was featured in SABC 2.

Mr Tsoai has collaborated with well-known actors such as Joey Ford, Ronnie Isaacs, Peter Fonda, and Isaac Mavimbela.

He is one of the actors that been relevant for a period of more than 20 years, When asked what he would do if granted three wishes... Mr Tsoai said he would “be healthy, wealthy and have lots of respect.”

His journey is an evidence that, no matter where you from, you can create the life that you wish for and end up where you want to be, if you start and never quit.

He is a talented radio presenter and a DJ for Sunday sessions and picnic events.

He graduated and obtained a Media bachelor's degree at the institute of Nemisa college.

His foundation on the radio industry started in 2017 at the Pocket stereo fm (Online radio) where he served for a period of 2 years and he then proceeded to Kamhlushwa online radio in 2019 to 2020.

In 2021, he joined the K radio (107.3) and he later proceeded to work with the Voice of hope as his last station.

He is currently looking forward to work with another radio station that will align with his career development journey, to further sharpen his skills and serve his followers and listeners.

From Mbombela (Clau Clau); This is Sandile Nyundu (31) mostly known as Hanoch

He is a hip hop gospel rapper, songwriter, banker and graduate in Bcom accountant at the University of Cape Town.

His music journey started (2012) when his friends introduced him to Christian hip hop , he was so fascinated that the songs impacted his life and helped him to find his purpose.

His music is influenced by his faith in God and love for his Lord Jesus Christ. He believes that his mission is to do music that talks to people in a positive way.

Hanoch has since worked with artists like Qiniso Pruddy Mabaso, Pressure, Mr Vee Sholo, Suzan Poetess Mbazima, Malume Atchaar and Shane Li Boy.

He released projects such as:

✅King Of The Air (2020)
✅King Of The Air ll: Amandla (2022).

In 2023, his song "Amandla" won the
"best single of the year" in the Mpumalanga Hip Hop Music Awards

The song also won the "best gospel hip hop song" in the 10th anniversary (2023) of Mpumalanga Gospel Music Awards (MGOMA).

He is currently working on an EP titled "Emadlelweni Laluhlata" (Green
Pastures) which features songs like "Ukucala kuhlakanipha" and "Usebenzile Ma" which he recently released as singles.

This place preserve the culture of the Mbombela people especially the Mbombela street hustlers.

Food, vegetables, appliances, car washers, barbers, transportation, hustling boyfriends and girlfriends etc. Whenever you are around Mbombela make sure you come here to support our brothers and sisters doing business.

The great thing is that the taxi drivers and vendors wouldn't allow kutsi ubanjwe inkunzi around here, it's very safe if you mind your own business.

The University of Mpumalanga (UniMpumalanga) is the first university in the province of Mpumalanga, it started with only 169 students in 2014 to 10,091 students in 2024, from 3 to 72 accredited academic programmes.

The idea of establishing a university in Mpumalanga was first put forth by Dr Nganani Enos John Mabuza who was the Chief Minister of the KaNgwane Homeland at that time.

In the early 1990s, local academics including the former Deputy President Mr DD Mabuza formed the university's committee and collaborated with a similar committee from the Northern Cape and jointly advocated for the establishment of universities in both provinces.

In 1996 the University Education Committee and the University Technikon Education Collaboration Committee merged to pursue the establishment of a university in the Province by the former MEC for Education, Mr DD Mabuza.

In 2006, the National Institute for Higher Education (Mpumalanga) was established to coordinate the provision of Higher Education in the province.

In 2010, the Minister of H.E.T, Dr B E Nzimande, appointed a task team to investigate the feasibility of establishing the university and a favourable report was submitted in September 2011 under the leadership of Prof T Z Mthembu.

In 2013, the former President, Mr Jacob Zuma, announced the name as well as the names of the members of the Interim Council to oversee its formal establishment.

In 2014, the university had first cohort of 169 students who enrolled in 3 different programs

In 2015, the Lowveld College of Agriculture was incorporated into the University of Mpumalanga.

In 2016, the first Chancellor of the University, the Honourable Deputy President, Mr Cyril Matamela Ramaphosa was appointed.

2017 was the beginning of the momentous occasion of inaugural graduation ceremony.

Up to date, the university have 2 campuses which offers these schools and faculties:

From Nkomazi (Naas) let's celebrate, draw inspiration and support our very own Penwell Jackey Silinda (25).

He is a former student at the University of Mpumalanga, a public speaker, investor, tech-entrepreneur and founder of the Smartd App

Penwell is one of the young people doing big things in the field of information technology and entrepreneurship as a whole.

His company recently developed an App called the smartdfood.com an alternative to mrd food and Uber to ekasi communities.

This web app allows you to order food to be delivered on your doorstep and it also provide access to (no interest) loan credit for returning clients.

So far deliveries can reach Mbombela and surrounding areas (30km) such as Kanyamazane, Karino, Kabokweni, White River, Kamagugu etc with only R15.00 per trip. The App is easy to use and it's available on Google Play Store.

From Barberton (Kakhaleni) meet our very own Bonginkosi Silinda mostly know as Chicco Gee
He is a musician with a unique package of some of the most healing roots music, melding hip-hop mascular drill, trap, soft hip-hop and Morden rap.

He is currently working on a EP which include collaboration with established artists and award winning producer"s with the likes of BlaqEye OTV & Jah cool.

His lyrical inspiration for the EP evolved from his experience as a young adults in the urban lifestyle and gang violence plagued in the ghetto of Barberton, an area frequented by artist such as Phumla Music and Brandon Dhludhlu.

His music influences range from the likes of MeekMill and old school Nas. The talented young Hip-Hop head participated in multiple local talent shows and started recording soon just after he discovered his ability to write songs.
