Zandvlei is the only functioning estuary on Cape Town's False Bay coast.
With the heavy rains,
comes the great flush,
tons and tons of rubbish,
from all over the Zandvlei catchment,
urbanised areas, industrial, commercial areas,
middle to lower-income housing
flow down the storm water canals and drains,
into rivers and into Zandvlei.

My firewall snitch installed on Windows 11 PC indicates Amazon servers connecting to all Windows 11 installations without your knowledge. What data is been collected or sold considering data is the most lucrative commodity on earth,

I have an issue with Amazon trying to connect to the computer.
Original title : amazonaws attack, trying to connect to my computer

I have mcafee security, when I look in history, every day it is blocking (I hope ),it says computers from the internet ec2-**-***-***-***.compute-1.amazonaws.com. one after another no matter what I surf or look at.the stars are always different ip numbers.neverthe less is this normal? I don't know I have never gone to amazon, never bought anything from them and don't do any of their stuff, to my knolage. I look at graigs list and watch msn vidoes news and such.is this normal or am I being stupid

Amazon Device randomly showing up on Network.
I just read many pages of questions about this phenomenon and found it curious that no comments were from anyone at Microsoft. Does that mean this is one of those mysterious back doors we here so much about in the news? I am not sure what to make of it. If it is an unwelcome intruder, why doesn't Defender stop it? It appears as a computer on my network just like my other PCs. In Austin? What am I to make of this if I am trying to operate a secure network? Help please.

Post Office SMS scam.

SMS confirm/adjust your delivery address which directs you to a cloned South African Post Office website fake payment page.

This SMS scam was easy to spot as its spray-mail type scam, firstly I am not expecting a parcel, South Post Office is non-functional these days and most important is the URL should beco.za not .cfd.

This SMS scam makes use of time-based threats to force you into an emotional fear-based reactions even though some victims were not expecting a parcel they still fell for this scam

Note the spelling mistake in the URL post offce and use of .cfd is a red flag moreover it’s a scammer technique called Typosquatting.

Update 2023: LinkedIn Account hijacking, account takeovers leveraging either brute-force attacks or using stolen credentials has greatly escalated.

Enable 2FA and change your password.

This article, LinkedIn Trust Factor Phishing Scams, was penned in 2022 following an escalation in LinkedIn phishing, vishing attacks and now in 2023 LinkedIn account takeovers. LinkedIn is still not doing enough to protect its users from attacks which is more than likely due to revenue limitations of its current model.

Enable 2FA and change your password.

LinkedIn users are suffering account lockouts or account takeovers with users experiencing email address changes with the inability to prevent such modifications. Do not pay the ransom to retrieve your account however contact LinkedIn support before your profile is deleted. The damage to professional networks and your reputation can be offset by two-factor authentication 2FA and strong unique passwords. You might experience temporary lockouts as the scammers attempt to hijack your account which is far better than full lockout and a changed email address on your account.

Enable 2FA and change your password.

What are Search Engine Results Pages SERPs.
SERPs, or Search Engine Results Pages, are the pages that search engines like Google display in response to a user’s query. SERPs typically include organic search results, paid search results, and other features such as featured snippets, knowledge graphs, and related searches.

The ranking of results on a SERP is determined by a search engine’s algorithm, which takes into account a variety of factors, including the relevance of the results to the query, the quality of the content, the popularity of the website, and the user’s location.

SERPs are important for both businesses and individuals. Businesses use SERPs to drive traffic to their websites and improve their visibility online. Individuals use SERPs to find information on a variety of topics.

SERPs are constantly evolving, and new features are being added all the time. This is because search engines are always trying to improve the user experience and provide the most relevant results possible.

Signed New Order_pdf.html attachment email scam.
New Order_pdf.html is the trigger.
Stop, pause evaluate.

Clicking on attachment leads you to a Trojan, password-stealing virus or fake website.

My first red flag is .html attachment as well as the use of Re: as a reply in an email chain, No Client ID, very poor grammar and the use of the sense of urgency to force you into an emotional based response.
This scam email is masked as a message regarding a Signed New Order is supposedly in the email attachment, New Order_pdf.html. However, the malicious file appears as attachments or downloadable links which infect the recipients’ devices with malware.
Moreover, these files can be archives (ZIP, RAR, etc.), executables files (.exe, .run, etc.), Microsoft Office and PDF documents, JavaScript or HTML files.

When the infected file is executed, run or opened, the infection chain malware download/installation is triggered. Most prevalent is Microsoft Office documents infecting devices by executing malicious macro commands.

Ransomware Southern Africa.
Hackers Scammers Sextortion Phishing

End Users, Informal and Small Business: Ransomware, Business Email Compromise BEC and Spoofing.

South Africa can no longer ignore it’s IT security vulnerabilities as a matter of National Interest.
The South African news is once again filled with new Ransomware attacks, Business Email Compromise BEC and Spoofing Email hacks. South Africa’s Justice Department, Space Agency, Transnet, JBS S.A., and many other businesses are affected by the attacks conducted by CoomingProject and other threat actors.
Just like our recent insurrection riots, strangely enough, rooted in the same foreign states as the hackers, we can defend the mall by doing our bit in our digital community. Corporations or Big Businesses are not the only targets as data shows End Users, Informal and Small Businesses are often the main target of Ransomware, Business Email Compromise BEC and Spoofing.

What can I do as the end-user/consumer, Informal & Small Business?
Zero Trust Policy:
Treat all emails with suspicion, even emails that appear to be a legitimate internal company or organisational communications, emails from suppliers; especially emails from senders and suppliers you don’t recognise.
Check the sender’s email address and name, and make sure it’s coherent and not random text.
Check the URL string making sure it’s not random text, misspelled or matches suppliers you have on file.
Do not open email attachments sent to undisclosed recipients or if the sender’s email matches the receivers (in this case it should be your email address).
Check for spelling and bad grammar.
If in doubt delete or drop it into the junk mail.

South African Internet Service and Cell Phone Providers as well as device manufactures whose software and systems are often the carriers of the scripts, the pinging and hacks, to start taking a greater accountability for their customers/consumers security and safety. IT service and hardware providers need the same oversight as car manufacturers, as it’s the vulnerabilities in their products, software, services that are exploited.
