Windmill Productions is a film production company specialising in the production of quality, commercially viable films, series and advertisements for the global marketplace. Based in Sandton and Hartbeespoort, South Africa, Windmill Productions focuses on telling great stories in unique ways and in a variety of genres to make movies and series that resonate with audiences both domestically and abroad. Windmill’s focus is on film & series production; however, director Nicho Barnard has been involved in producing, directing and consulting on a variety of genres locally, from musical theatre productions, television movies to mini-series and television series.
Windmill directors Danielle Bennett and Evaldi Pretorius met on a film set in 2018 and were asked to assist with developing a new TV series. Both were appointed as Executive Producers and took it upon themselves to create and produce something magical. Nicho Barnard joined the company as a director and show runner for the new TV Series. Together their plan is to put South Africa on the map in the entertainment world by creating and producing thrilling and compelling TV Series and Movies that showcase South African Talent in all facets from crew right through to cast.
ABOUT OUR DIRECTORS
Danielle Bennett is an entrepreneur and has been in the accounting field for 19 years. Danielle grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa. She is extremely ambitious, hard-working and dedicated to every project she is involved in. Danielle does not approach accounting like a normal “grey suit” accountant, her fun and quirky ways allow her to show that accounting can be exciting and fun. With her daughter being in the entertainment industry, Danielle became interested in the dealings that go on behind the camera and curtain. With no desire to be in front of the camera or on stage, Danielle joined the team of “The Dream” series as one of their executive producers with the desire to put South Africa on the entertainment map. With juggling her career and family life, Danielle also decided that you never too old to learn and has resumed her studies at the ripe old age of 37. Danielle is married and has 3 children
Evaldi Pretorius grew up in Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa, and matriculated at Overkruin Hoërskool in 1994. She studied Sport- Administration & Marketing at Technikon Pretoria. She was a gymnast until the age of 28. She has also completed her level 2 judging & coaches courses for gymnastics. She was appointed as Coach of the Year in 1998. After her studies she worked in several industries as a Personal and admin assistant. During this time she learned a lot from her environment and surroundings and worked herself up to an Operations Manager, Site Manager (construction) and Financial Assistant. She completed several courses which includes Telephone Etiquette, Customer Service, Pastel Bookkeeping and Pastel Payroll.
She is currently working as an Office Manager as well as owning her own Bookkeeping firm called Practical Bookkeeping Solutions. In 2017 she joined a casting agency as an extra outdoors activity. She got involved in “The Dream” production and was asked to fill the position of Executive Producer. She is currently working on this production with Danielle Bennett (Executive Producer) and Nicho Barnard (Director & Producer). She currently lives in Hartbeespoort, North West, South Africa with her husband and son. Her other son also lives in Hartbeespoort.
Nicho Barnard is an ambitious, hardworking and very passionate Actor, Director, Producer, Writer and Singer. After hearing the word “No” so often, he never gave up and continued to preserve through stormy waters to achieve success and reach his goals. From a young age Nicho always knew that the arts, especially Singing, Acting and Filmmaking is what he wants to do for the rest of his life. A Goal that has never changed. Apart from his extensive list of work within theater, including his International Qualifications earned, Nicho has also done quite a few memorable works within the Film and Television Industry, this includes cameo appearances on film such as the Kyknet Silwerskerm Short Film “Die man met die snor” and have also had the opportunity to be on major big Hollywood Sets such as Resident Evil: The Final Chapter with Milla Jovovich and the Seige of Jadotville with Jamie Dornan (Fifty Shades of Grey).
Nicho also played a supporting role as “Detective Clarke” in The Crossing’s first pilot episode in 2016 and also made an appearance in two big short films, “A Glass Half Full” and “The Tate Experiment”, both films which Nicho also directed and produced. Both films won numerous awards and was selected to go overseas for several festivals. Throughout Nicho has shown that he is a man of perseverance and commitment. He is ambitious and strives to work hard and make a difference in the industry. Not just for himself, but for others. He continuously work on growing and bettering himself to not be better than anyone else, but to be the best version of himself and apart from his qualifications and experiences, have also had the opportunity to be titled as one of the youngest Theatre Directors and Producers and Film & Television Showrunners in TV History.
This comes with Nicho’s upcoming Drama-Thriller Television Series “Obsession” which recently secured a distribution deal with Amazon Video. Nicho is not only the Showrunner, Creator and Executive Producer of the series, but will also be starring as Finn Riley (Supporting Actor) in the show. Nicho has achieved and accomplished so much in numerous aspects of his life including his Singing Career and he has overcome many obstacles and still fight the good fight to make a difference. He is an inspiration to many that meet him, not because of all of his accomplishments and achievements, but because he has all of those accomplishments and achievements and he is only 23-years old.
