Consumer prices increased by 1.1% from May to June, reflecting intense impact of the fuel price hikes. Fuel prices recorded a 45.3% increase in June, a huge jump from the year before - biggest increase on record.

Prices of food and non - alcoholic Bev's topped by 8.6% year on year this June. Stats SA says this is the highest rate since March 2027, when South Africa was hit by severe drought.

Taxi industry is reacting to the increase to the , the industry spokesperson told that they're seeing a 25% -30% increase in taxi fares. This will bore a whole to the commuters and a big blow on job seekers, a pain to the black community at large as we are the main users of the taxi transport.
