HOEDSPRUIT, SOUTH AFRICA — Residents of Segagule Village near Acornhoek have been advised to be vigilant from an elusive leopard.

Motorist driving on the busy Orpen Road to the reported about a wild cat that was seen roaming outside the Kruger National Park.

According to motorist, the animal was sighted outside the crossing the Orpen Road near the Nourish Eco Village at Segagule.

POLITICS | EX-ANC MEMBERS ALLEGEDLY RUNS MPUMALANGA’S ACTION SA

ACORNHOEK, SOUTH AFRICA — A prominent Action SA leader in Acornhoek near Bushbuckridge alleged that several former ANC members were in control of the Herman Mashaba party in Mpumalanga.

The politician, who requested not to be named for fear of harrassment, has accused Thoko Mashiane, a provincial party leader, of pushing cronyism and factionalism.

He said the Bohlabela constituency, which includes Mashishing, also known as Leydenburg and Bushbuckridge regions, had several vibrant branches in the past year and earlier this year being launched.

However, he alleged that several former provincial ANC members swelled the ranks in the party and started taking those who were working hard for granted.

He accused the ex-ANC members of laziness and also hating those who joined Action SA from different parties that were formerly ANC’s traditional rivals.

According to him, they purged them not to be included in the party’s list to parliament and provincial legislature despite their hard work.

“At the moment, there are a lot of hardworking members on the ground who are not happy in this party especially in Bohlabela. We worked hard on the ground, and now they brought their lazy friends who were in the ANC structures at Mbombela to come and micro mage us,” said the activist.

“The reality is that there are many disgruntled members, and even a plan for defection to another promising party was being thought of,” he said.

Bushbuckridge Guardian has it in authority that the ActionSA Mpumalanga and nationally has on several meetings been discussing the former president Jacob Zuma’s backed party, uMkhonto Wesizwe (MK) Party as a threat to its membership.

MASHILO HANDS A 23 MILLION HALL TO RESIDENTS

The newly-built state of the art hall was opened for public usage on Monday. It cost the government 23-million to construct the building, the MEC said.

UK’S KING CHARLES III DIAGNOSED WITH CANCER

PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA — According to the an official statement from Buckingham Palace in London, which is the royal residence and the administrative headquarters of the monarch of the United Kingdom, King Charles III has been diagnosed with a form of cancer.

The Palace said the 75-year-old British King began “regular treatments” on Monday and will postpone public duties during the treatment.

The type of cancer was not revealed, and it was discovered during his recent treatment.

LAGOS TO BECOME THE WORLD’S LARGEST CITY

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA — According to the demographers, Nigeria’s capital city, Lagos will become the world’s largest city by 2100.

The city could become home to between 85 million and 100 million people. It is a major African financial centre and is the economic hub of Lagos State and Nigeria at large.

Already much larger than cities such as New York City and London, it’s adding 77 residents per hour as people move from less industrial parts of Nigeria.

Renting a tiny two-bedroom flat in the city sets you back, on average, $2640 (R38 800) per year. The minimum wage is about $80 (R1175) per month while average earnings are about $222 (R3261) a month.

EFF DRILLS BUSHBUCKRIDGE’S VILLAGES GROUND FOR BOREHOLES

MKHUHLU, SOUTH AFRICA — On Saturday, the EFF in Mpumalanga visited Nhlalakahle and Sondela Villages in Mkhuhlu near Bushbuckridge to drill two boreholes.

These villages forms part of the Ward 3 in which the EFF conducted it’s door-to-door campaigns within the Bushbuckridge sub-region over the weekend.

Despite the Ward lately being the battleground for politicians’ campaigns, the sub-region promises to be one of the country’s highly-contested areas come elections.

In the past few weeks, several top politicians visited some Wards in the sub-region to campaign for their political parties.

Earlier in January, the EFF’s treasure-general, Omphile Maotwe visited the sub-region to campaign for her party. She handed out t-shirts and several other EFF’s regalia to the residents.

Later during that week, it was announced that the EFF welcomed about 2 000 disgruntled members from the ruling ANC and residents into the red berets’ party ranks.

While last week, the executive mayor of Bushbuckridge Local Municipality, Silvia Nxumalo and some ANC regional head honchos led a campaign that was disguised as a prayer session at a sports field in three Wards around Mkhuhlu.

The sub-region could become a political hotbed within the province. This comes after the announcement of the formation of Wards for the rapidly growing uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party in Cork near Mkhuhlu and Acornhoek.

The ugly scenes unfolded during the Hollywoodbets Men's Regional League match at Ximhungwe Sports Field in Bushbuckridge. Despite the match between Crystal Lake and Current Aces having ended in a 1—all draw, the referee was beaten by a group of aggrieved people believed to be Aces' fans. An official from Crystal — which were the hosts of the game — was seen in another video trying to shield the referee from an aggressive man wearing a white t-shirt. The man in white t-shirt unleashed a hot clap to the referee outside the field. In another scene, the same man was seen earlier in some pictures brandishing a firearm out side the field. The scenes displayed a negative outlook of soccer games which have since been highly followed in various areas of Bushbuckridge sub-region. Crystal is a new club in the regional league matches. It is owned by the Department of Basic Education spokesperson, Elijah Mhlanga and managed by ex- Liver brothers coach, Magic Nyalungu. While Aces are perennial regional league challengers, the club is based in Cork Village near Mkhuhlu. ANC COUNCILLOR PREDICTED HE WOULD BE KILLED 17 January 2023, 16:55 PM | Bushbuckridge Guardian | @BbrGuardianZA PIET RETIEF, SOUTH AFRICA — Sabelo Nhleko, an ANC councillor at Mkhondo Local Municipality in Mpumalanga predicted he would be killed for standing up against corrupt politicians. The 36-year-old was gunned down on Friday night with his friend and a car mechanic at Longhomes Township near the Piet Retief town. Nhleko’s killing followed the murder of Muzi Manyathi, 41, who was a PR councillor in Mkhondo. Manyathi was gunned down at a fuel station in Piet Retief in November last year, also on a Friday night. Following Manyathi's murder, Nhleko posted a live video on social media accusing a prominent Mkhondo politician. He accused the prominent politicians of killing ANC comrades who stood up against corruption. On the video circulating on the social media, Nhleko stated that should he get killed, the people of Mkhondo should know who did it. “Comrades, we are in a crisis. In Mkhondo, we are faced with a thug… who is killing us now. He is killing us for standing up against his failures in the municipality. Please know that if I die, I was killed by (this man). “He has just killed our brother (Manyathi) who was standing up for the organisation,,” said Nhleko in the video. The incident happened not far from Marongwane — a village near Marite in Mpumalanga. The trucks were allegedly set alight by Marongwane's angry residents. According to a local leader who requested not to be named, the residents were demanding a tarred road. "We want the municipality and the provincial government to construct a tarred road in our village. Beside that the protests will continue like this until they listen to our demands," he said.
