I didnt like condensing the novella 'The black Jesus', as it affected negatively to the flow of the story. So to avoid the need to shorted the dramatic ending, where i write about a miracle. I have decided let the exiting story to become a novel instead and have cut the last story altogether. Incorporating parts of it into 'The long dry summer.
Soon this year my first trilogy of south african stories will, after editing be ready to be published via Amazon and will be aptly named:
'Tales of South Africa Vol 1
The long dry summer

The cover will be a picture of the haunted farm Tramore

'The black Jesus' is a year later over 60000 words long. Talk about the tale wagging the tail of the author. 😊
Yet its still not finished so i decided to delete the story 'Taxi man' and include it in the title story: 'The long dry summer.' The title of the first compilation of uniquely South African stories is now.

'Tales of South Africa Vol 1'
'The long dry Summer'

The epic story 'The black Jesus' has got to the 60 Kiloword mark and yet its not the end. So i need to add a sequel to the shortened story called: 'Red Danger'. This story and others have been planned they are:

'The Tokoloshe Clan' - a prequal to 'The legacy of the Tokoloshe', explaining where these humanoids come from. Bit of science fiction needed to be added.

'Petrol head' is about the need for speed culture in rural South Africa and is the title story.

The last one is a romantic comedy dated to pre 2000 of a mixed race relationship in the farming community. Were it was legal to do so, but frowned on.

All four will be published in: 'Short Stories & Novellas of South Africa Volume 2. The target date for Volume 1 is still this year.

Well sorry potential readers that i havent updated. But ive been too busy writing every work day for a minimum of an hour.
The black Jesus - a story of a holy man and his battle between his evil Satan worshipping twin
Kapitan Robert de Ville is reaching its climax soon as im on the 55 000+ words long and ive finished another sub chapter.
Its base in the aparteid era of which i am very familier of and pulls no punches.
This year publishing on Amazon.

Good news 'The black Jesus' my God vs the Devil story is almost finished and its already 41 K words long. Easily will make 45 K.
I personly think that its the best story i have written.
The sequel of it will be 'Rooi gevaar or red danger. To be published in 'Short stories of South Africa vol 2.'
The ground work for that has already been written,

Lock down level 3. But oh yes ive written my lock down journals under the title ' Odd sods and beer suds'. Why you may ask me, as you dont know us writers. Like you dont know me, at all. In all the novellas i write there is a kernal of truth. 'The legacy of the Tokoloshe' for example.
Yes i was a member of the Drakensboy boys choir.
'The long dry summer.' Yes it is a horror story.
But i stayed on Tramore farm and it was haunted.
'Taxi man' how ever is a new spin - lyrics of that song to suite my experiences as a taxi driver, with live sheep in the back of my bakkie. Will be included.
Ok a sneak preview Guy El aka Taxi man. Stole R500 000 worth of Tramore gold zol. So now Gideon is pi**ed off and orders his men to recover it leaving no witnesses.

Ok 'The Black Jesus' is almost done. As usual, thank God for Words spell and grammer correction.
As usual and i realy think im getting better with my novel and i by now how to delete. Non revelent text. Its very weird. But a story does get a lfe of its own when my hero, gets called up to guard the Mozambique border.
So i decided to add a Tiger fishing trip and off some s*x scenes

Ok im working very hard, but for personal reasons i am not in the mood today. Add and delete to my next novella called ' The black Jesus' is mentally very tiring.
Just when i thought i completed a chapter. I thought of another sub plot to add to it.
But im very happy with it as its a very cool story.
That i need to finish and let my editor review it.

Writing a story is like sharpening a knife. With the help of my editor. I can do it, just takes a lot of patience. And as i edit my stories about South Africa, it is a challenge. Delete some text and replace them, with more appropiate ones.
Anyway ' The legacy of the Tokolose' is done. Now comes my title story, 'The long dry Summer'. Which is much more difficult as their are so many errors in it. But as a pensioner, its more fun than watching TV the whole day.

I have done the minor changes on 'The legacy of the Tokoloshe' and the dark 'The long dry Summer' and submitted both to my editor. When I get feedback I dont know. But in the meantime I am busy writting my third novella of South Africa.
'The Black Jesus' and I am making good progress with it. Maybe it will be finished at the end of August?

Feedback from my editor, working at our local paper is very positive on my first novella, 'The legacy of the Tokoloshe..' She suggested a couple of changes, but likes the story.

12/06/2020

Positive feedback, which as a writer, I love.
The Tokoloshe series now copywrited. Yes it is a chick book , maybe as in my opinion , the hard core Long dry Summer, should not have followed. But painfully it did.
She likes it and that does encourage me to complete my third novella,. Hopefully obtainable at your local CNA at the end of 2020?

26/05/2020

I have submitted two of my novellas, 'The legacy of the Tokoloshe' and 'The long dry Summer' to the editor of our local newspaper The Kokstad Advertiser' for review and editing.
She has offered to do it for free and as I am a pensioner, that is a blessing.
No I can focus on the third Novella, 'The Black Jesus', which is already 20k words long.
The final story 'Taxi man' has still to be finished.
But thanks to the lock down, I should be ready to publish at the end of 2020.
