ā€œWhat a year, Beer Troopers! As 2024 comes to a close, I canā€™t help but look back on all the adventures the Beer Passportā„¢ and I shared with you. From quiet back roads to bustling breweries, itā€™s been a year of discovery, connection, and of course, great beer.

Question: Does the Beer Passport expire?

Answer: The Beer Passport 2024/2025 is crafted as a companion for discovering breweries across South Africa, rather than a pass with a strict expiration date. The ā€œ2024/2025ā€ label simply refers to the current edition, and we donā€™t plan to release new versions every year. So, you can enjoy discovering as many destinations as you like at your own pace! The Beer Passport is meant to be both a guide and a fun challenge to discover as many local breweries as you can, while the ā€œFree Beerā€ is a bonus.

A Note on the Free Beer: Thanks to the generosity of our brewery partners, weā€™ve arranged for a complimentary beer at most participating breweries. The specifics of this free beer are left to each brewerā€™s discretionā€”it could be a small taste, a full beer, or an offering when paired with a meal. We ask that you accept this gesture with gratitude, and if you encounter any issues, know that the breweries do their best to support this offer. Should we learn of any changes or adjustments, weā€™ll make sure to update the destination pages on beertroopers.com to keep everyone informed.

Enjoy the journey, collect those stamps, and make the most of the Beer Passport experience!

Just as the African proverb says, ā€œIt takes a village to raise a child,ā€ I believe it takes a community to help entrepreneurs succeed. Bringing the Beer Passportā„¢ to life was no solo journey; it relied on the collective strengths of people across my network, each contributing their unique skills and energy to make the vision a reality.

From the start, I leaned heavily on those with the Genius of Invention (I) to generate fresh, creative solutions and add new layers of innovation. Creating the Beer Passportā„¢ was just the beginning. Keeping the project thriving and evolving has meant relying on the Galvanizers (G) who rally support and maintain momentum. To see the project through, I look to the Enablers (E) and Tenacious (T) types who ensure every detail is covered and the finish line is crossed.

This journey has taught me that with the right combination of strengths and a supportive team, what once seemed impossible can come to life.

Reflecting on the 1st birthday of the Beer Passportā„¢, Iā€™m reminded of my talk at Africa Brew - Brewers Unite at Richmond Hill Brewing Co in 2023, where I shared these insights. Check out my latest blog post to dive deeper into how The Six Types of Working Genius model helped me bring the Beer Passportā„¢ to life and continues to fuel our Beer Troopers communityā€™s growth.

Michael Egling, Rob Riedlinger, Gary Amstutz ,Rachel du Plessis, Johan Auriacombe, Trevor Gerntholtz, Elbie Louw, Apiwe Nxusani-Mawela, Jessica Meier, Roland Vorwerk, Brenda Meier and Kate Brenda Meier.

Discover how the Working Genius model helped bring the Beer Passportā„¢ to life, with the support of a community of Inventors, Galvanizers, Enablers, and Tenacious teammates. Celebrating collaboration and innovation in the Beer Troopy communityā€™s journey!

Donā€™t just drive past Aloes Meats! Don't be tempted to stop at the bigger commercial spots along the N3, take a break at Aloes Meats instead. They offer the usual refreshments youā€™d expect, but what really sets them apart are their freshly baked homemade pies and an impressive range of frozen meats.

Itā€™s the perfect spot to stock up on quality, locally sourced products and grab a bite to eat while youā€™re at it. Trust me, itā€™s well worth the stop!
