I remember the day, almost a decade ago, when I noticed I had stopped listening to radio in my car and was only listening to podcasts. "Hmmm, that's interesting!" (I thought) "This sounds like the future, I think I'll start helping people to make podcasts."

Solid Gold Podcasts clients scoop 14 Finalists in 8 categories in the inaugural SA Podcast Awards.

Our collective excitement from the recent APVA Awards barely had a chance to wane before the South African Podcasters Guild announced the finalists for SA's first Podcast Awards, taking place on 2 November.

It would be an understatement to say we are delighted to reveal that our clients make up 14 of the finalists. What an amazing showing!

We're especially proud of Solid Gold Story Time which is the belle of the ball, being a finalist in a whopping 5 categories, including 'Best Content Quality' and 'Best Production Quality' and 'Best Innovation & Creativity.'

Solid Gold Story Time has the honour of being in the most finalist categories of any podcast this year :-)

Well done to Lynn Joffe who may well have to give another of her fabulous acceptance speeches ;-)

Also putting in a great showing is (MySociaLife) Dean McCoubrey's 'ZedAlpha' podcast which examines the impact of emerging technology on our children.

Well done also to Melanie Walker, Petro Du Pisani, Christi Sa, South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA), and Adéle de la Reÿ (Restonic Mattress South Africa) - we appreciate you trusting us with your voices.

And the excitement at Solid Gold Podcasts and Audiobooks continues today with the release of the African Podcasts and Voices-APVA finalists for "Best Audiobook Performance".

Imagine our delight at seeing that all three finalists are Solid Gold Audiobook productions!

Whew, thank you APVA, we are humbled and grateful (and did I mention excited?)

Well done to:
Malcolm Gooding on Jane Carruthers' "Wildlife and Warfare";

Gary Ralfe who both wrote and narrated the extensive History of Michaelhouse titled "Stars of the Morning"; and

A wonderful collaboration with American International School of Johannesburg, Penguin Random House SA and author Hannes Barnard on a school set work, titled "Halley's Comet" and (here's the really cool bit) this book was narrated by 4 of the pupils from AISJ.

The distinction lies in who owns/controls the core podcast content versus having brand elements integrated into externally produced shows. Or even simply slapping a logo on a successful podcast to reach their audience.
