All These “Formers” Can Never Take Nigeria Forward

Members of this so-called coalition are individuals who have always been part of the system. They have held positions of power yet made no meaningful contributions to the development of Nigeria. They are, in truth, enemies of Nigeria, whose only ambition is to drag the nation backward while securing power for their own selfish gains.

If we examine their track records in the various political offices they once occupied, what significant and sustainable change can we point to? What legacy have they left behind that is still transforming lives today? The answer is glaring: none.

Some of them are outright enemies of Nigeria. They are enemies of progress. Nigerians can no longer be fooled. Nigerians from all walks of life have seen the truth. What was showcased in that coalition hall? A parade of “formers”—former Vice President, former governors, former ministers, former this, former that. These “formers” are determined to take Nigeria back to its former glory — a broken, dysfunctional past that never served the people. They have never taken us forward.

These are the same architects of our current national predicament who now rebrand themselves as rescuers. They are nothing more than elderly political jobbers who have no new ideas to offer. For the last four decades, these same faces have ruled Nigeria. Where has that taken us? To a nation where 80% of the population lives in poverty. And now they posture as the firefighters to put out a blaze they themselves ignited.

The average Nigerian is so disillusioned with their country that even the name “Nigeria” triggers pain, let alone the desire to stay. Our biggest export today is JAPA—the mass exodus of young, talented Nigerians fleeing the country for survival, driven not only by hardship but by hopelessness, lack of vision, zero accountability, and a total absence of solutions.

These “formers” have presided over the importation of herdsmen crises, Boko Haram insurgency, thuggery, kidnappings, and countless other national tragedies.

Where were the youths in that gathering? Seventy per cent of our population are young people, yet the coalition was filled with geriatrics—most of them over 75 years old—who claim they want to rescue Nigeria. Rescue Nigeria with what? With the same stale, recycled, failed ideas?

They are career officeholders, professional politicians who spend their days whining about government rather than building viable alternatives. That is not opposition — that is self-service.

I weep for Nigerians. I weep for my generation, robbed of the opportunity to lead. The same faces I saw on television as a child, whose names filled newspaper pages decades ago, are the same ones still parading themselves as saviors today. They have nothing to offer. Nigeria has entered a new age, but they are still stuck in the old one.

Until Nigerians wake up and reject these cronies — until we start selecting our leaders on merit rather than name recognition — Nigeria will keep decaying. The so-called “Giant of Africa” has already lost its footing; Nigeria no longer ranks among the top five destinations for doing business on the continent, as even foreign investors flee at record speed.

Nigerians, understand this: the bidding for your soul has already begun. Instead of delivering on their mandate, they are plotting for a second term. My question is, what have they done to earn another mandate? Have they inspired the masses with results — or will they rely once again on poverty as a weapon, tossing a bag of rice and a few liters of oil to buy another four years of your misery?

Nigerians, wake up. Diaspora, speak up. Africans, raise your voices. 2027 is not for the fainthearted.

The Afropolitan has spoken.

With the Veteran Broadcaster, Madam Ilemi Okoka, today at her office in Armed Forces Radio 107.7FM, Abuja, Nigeria.

What an incredible privilege to sit with someone who has walked this path long before us — a true trailblazer whose wisdom, experience, and voice have shaped generations. There is a priceless advantage in learning from those who have gone ahead of you: their journeys become signposts, their lessons become guardrails, and their courage becomes an inspiration to dream even bigger. Connecting with elders and veterans in any field helps you see further, stand stronger, and avoid the pitfalls they already overcame. It is an honour to draw from Madam Ilemi’s deep well of knowledge and to learn from her seasoned perspective.

This place already feels like a new home and a new family. There’s something powerful and fresh cooking here for Africans and our brothers and sisters in the diaspora — a movement, a platform, a voice for the New Tribe. It’s going to be amazing, and everyone is welcome to be a part of it.

To my diaspora family, I encourage you: see Nigeria, and see Africa, from its vantage point — from the voices of its people, its culture, its stories — not just from the headlines or stereotypes. There is a richness, a beauty, and a promise in this continent that you can only truly experience when you engage with it directly.

Together, let’s rise and redefine the narrative. The future is bright.

Nigerian sprinter Favour Ofili has filed application to switch allegiance to Turkey as of May 31, 2025.

Kayon Raynor of Reuters reports that Ofili notified the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) that her decision was motivated by years of neglect and ill-treatment at the hands of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN).

Notably, AFN and Nigeria Anti-Doping Committee (NADC) failure to conduct the required test, which resulted in her and 13 other athletes missing the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Along with AFN and the Nigeria Olympic Committee's (NOC) failure to submit her name for the women's 100m event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Ofili additionally petitioned the AIU, stating that her decision to switch to Turkey was prompted by frustration rather than financial motivations.

If granted, Ofili must wait a minimum of 3 years to represent Turkey as per World Athletics' transfer of allegiance regulation.

As of now, no official confirmation has been provided by the AFN, Turkish Athletics Federation, or World Athletics, and Ofili’s profile still shows Nigeria.

The situation remains unconfirmed and may be developing.

INTERVENTION CALL FOR NIGERIA — A CRY FOR HELP

I am short of words… 😭😭😭
Africans, please — join hands and intervene for Nigeria. The situation is far worse than what the world sees. Beneath the silence and smiles are screams of fear, pain, and helplessness.

The sad reality we face — from the terror of herdsmen to Boko Haram attacks, from insurgencies to militant violence — is not just the work of criminals. It is the fruit of deep-rooted government failure: the failure to protect lives, to uphold justice, to lead with vision and courage.

Nigeria, once full of promise, now battles fear as its daily language. Poverty has been weaponized. Leadership has been reduced to a game of self-preservation. And entire communities are disappearing under the weight of violence and neglect.

I believe Nigeria can rise again. I believe our government can do better. But at this rate, if we don’t act now, Nigerians may soon find themselves with no nation left to call home.

This is not just our pain — it is an African pain. Because when one part of the body suffers, the whole body should feel it. Don’t wait until this evil knocks on your own door. Don’t be silent because your family isn’t yet affected. Today it’s Nigeria — especially Benue State. Tomorrow, it could be your backyard.

This is a desperate plea — a call for continental and global intervention.
From citizens. From leaders. From influencers. From those who still believe in humanity and the African dream.

Please, stand with us.
Speak up.

Demand action.
We are running out of time.

CAMEROON 🇨🇲😭😭😭 | Tears of Joy as History is Made

Paul Biya Removed in Peaceful Coup After 50 Years in Power

In a moment that has sent shockwaves across Africa, Cameroon’s longest-serving president, Paul Biya, has been peacefully removed from power after nearly five decades of rule. The 91-year-old leader, who has been a central figure in Cameroonian life since 1982, was ousted not by civil war or mass protest, but through a calm, calculated, and bloodless military operation.

The announcement came via a brief but powerful statement from a military spokesperson:A
“President Paul Biya has been removed from office.”

That single sentence sent the nation into emotional overdrive. Within hours, jubilant crowds filled the streets. Some danced. Others wept. There was no violence—only raw emotion. For many, it felt as if the heavy chains of silent oppression had finally been broken.

The operation was led by Brigadier General Arnaud Ambassy, a quiet, strategic mind respected throughout the military. Working alongside him was Sergeant Didier Ekulay, who coordinated the logistics of the transition. Together, they led a disciplined team of soldiers—many of them younger, internationally trained officers committed to restoring national dignity.

This was no chaotic mutiny. It was a masterclass in precision.

Presidential guards were quietly replaced. Key command centers were secured. Power shifted in the dead of night—without a single gunshot. Analysts are already calling it one of the most disciplined military transitions in modern African history.

During Biya’s decades-long reign, Cameroon’s relationship with France deepened—but at a cost. In return for diplomatic protection, France gained sweeping access to the country’s rich natural resources: oil, timber, and minerals. Meanwhile, millions of Cameroonians remained trapped in poverty as French corporations flourished.

But the new military leadership has wasted no time rewriting that story.

They opened the presidential archives. What they found stunned the nation:

Billions of dollars in public funds funneled into foreign accounts in France

Records of secret meetings in which French diplomats allegedly influenced Cameroonian elections

Documents revealing how France helped sustain Biya’s decades-long grip on power

For many Cameroonians, this wasn’t just a dictatorship—it was a betrayal engineered with international complicity.

The military leaders have since ignored France’s diplomatic overtures. Their silence is deafening—and deliberate.

For the first time in a generation, Cameroon feels like it might finally belong to Cameroonians.

Biya’s fall sends a resounding message across the continent: Change is possible. It doesn’t always require bloodshed.

In homes, schools, markets, and mosques, hope is returning.
Parents speak of a future where their children might live with dignity.
Young people feel seen and heard.
Soldiers are proud to serve the people—not a single man.

There are still questions about what comes next. The world is watching.
Will the military usher in a new era of democracy, transparency, and justice?
Can the spirit of peace that removed Biya now build a stronger nation?

For now, Cameroon is breathing again. Paul Biya’s era is over. The people are rising.

And Africa is listening.
