Launched to success in 2006 at the legendary Comedy Underground, Warren Robertson's clever, off-kilter and highly original comedy saw him quickly becoming a favourite at alternative comedy venues nationwide. Now twenty years, three one-man shows, and festival appearances from Edinburgh to Oppiekoppie later, this highly experienced stand-up, improviser and MC, is probably best known for the multiple appearances on Comedy Central and his role as the narrator on South Africa's, Love Island.

Meet the Comedian - Wazi Kunene

Wazi M Kunene is a South African award winning Standup Comedian, an all round artist born in Pietermaritzburg, KZN. After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree from Rhodes University, Wazi has bravely manoeuvred the creative industry, intentionally swaying between performing, writing, voice overs and acting.
She has astonished audiences with her intriguing, uproarious comedy and remarkable performance skills. After starting her standup comedy career in 2018, Wazi launched her debut standup comedy special: Dawn in 2021. She has toured the country, began performing internationally, hosts the crowd favourite: Women Who Kill standup comedy showcasedin multiple theatres and festivals, and the first woman to win Newcomer at the prestigious Savanna Comics Choice Awards ’23.

Wazi has had an unmissable presence and growth in the comedy world. Be it viral social media skits, voice over work for brands like Castle Larger, MC for brands like Avbob. Appearing on TV shows like Entangled, TV comedy sets like on Funny People SA, contributing as a writer on shows like Comedy Central’ Roast of a Minnie Dlamini, Makwerekwere News and is part of a fast-growing comedy podcast: Censored-ish. She was also a writer for the Comedy Central roast of Pearl Thusi’.

Her artistry knows no bounds, she released a poetry anthology title deluge In Swarga before focusing more on comedy. She is also a children’s books author for Oxford University Press, having written over 24 isiZulu books for varying grades. She wrote the play: Lisakhanya, a children’s play for the Joburg Theatre. She has voiced children’s characters for educational programs like Modlin, Khan Academy, translated and voiced multiple subjects for the Vodacom eSchooling program.

Wazi embraces every artistic discipline with courage and creativity, yet this is just the dawn of her multifaceted career and ingenuity.
