They will be interviewing SA Community Radio Organisation ‘s (SACRO) National Secretary and leader of the sector, Ms Marcolene Roach to wish Alex Fm on their 30th birthday.

Alex FM Radio Celebrates 30 Years of Broadcasting Excellence
Alexandra, Johannesburg - Alex FM Radio, a leading community radio station, is proud to announce its 30th anniversary of broadcasting to the community. Since its inception in 1994, Alex FM has been a beacon of hope, entertainment, and information, serving the community with dedication and passion.

Over the past three decades, Alex FM has established itself as a trusted voice, providing a platform for local talent, news, and discussions that matter. The station has played a significant role in promoting social cohesion, cultural diversity, and community development.

"We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone anniversary," said Takalane Nemangowe. "Our commitment to serving the community remains unwavering, and we look forward to many more years of broadcasting excellence."

To commemorate this occasion, Alex FM will host a series of events, including:

- Anniversary Celebration and Bus Flash Mob Tour in Alexandra: We will kick off the celebration with a bus mob flash tour across Alexandra, bringing the festivities directly to the people. This tour will include live entertainment, community engagement activities, and opportunities for residents to participate in the celebration. The day will culminate in an anniversary celebration event featuring keynote speakers, performances, and a reflection on our journey.
• Community Outreach Projects: Throughout September, we will organize community service projects that align with our mission, focusing on uplifting the most vulnerable in our society.
• Live Broadcasts at Heritage Sites: During September, we will host live broadcasts from various heritage sites in Alexandra, highlighting the rich cultural history of our community.

Entries for the 2024 edition of the Standard Bank Sikuvile Journalism Awards, brought to you by the South African National Editors’ Forum (SANEF), are now open and will close on Friday, 29 March 2024.

The Awards will cover stories published or broadcast between 1 January 2023 and 31 December 2023. There will be no extension and winners will be announced at an event on Saturday, 29 June, at a venue yet to be confirmed in Gauteng.

The awards are open to all media platforms - print, online/digital, and broadcast (radio and TV) journalists.
