In our last few newsletters, we’ve been keeping up with the big clean-up event that happened this past Saturday, psyching everyone up leading up to it.

Residents, community organisations, businesses and our 3-body system came together to do something about the upkeep of our suburb. They targeted the artery roads that people generally use to travel through Melville.

Tune into this week’s Melville Untold to learn about how our local super hero Danyle Nunes and his urban management company CREASS pulled this big coalition off and rallied the community to work together and take an active role in keeping our beautiful neighbourhood attractive.

In this week’s Melville Untold we also gathered up all the family-friendly and adult fun things to do, music events you can enjoy, check-in with activities happening at the Melville Koppies Central and the icing on the cake, some sweet little stories from the Melville streets.

In issue 12 of the Melville Untold:

🤲 What happens when neighbours unite
🎨 Paint and Sip events for days
🎺 Live music events at Smoking Kills Bar, chiesa di PAZZO LUPi, Karaoke Kong, Coca Lounge, White Campus Square and more
⛰ Melville Koppies Check-in
🎭 A Melville local steals the show at the Franklin Players Community Theatre Pantomime Show
💔 The Museum of Broken Hearts: A grand opening
☹️ A Melville gem is closing down in the new year

Amongst all the issues we’ve been facing in the last few weeks in our hood, we hope showing you the good can help bring some light and positivity into your hectic week.

Thanks to your support we're celebrating 10 issues of Melville Untold! To mark this milestone we're expanding our coverage to serve our community even better.

After last week's visit to the Koppies, we're excited to introduce a new 'Melville Koppies Check-in' section. With our leader - Aubrey volunteering to become a guide, we now firmly have a finger on the pulse of what’s going on up there.

We've also added a 'Market Watch' section to keep tabs on important info, changes and special offerings coming up each week at our local markets so YOU DON’T MISS OUT!

We highly recommend checking out their full newsletter for in-depth profiles and behind-the-scenes stories. We'll just be doing a quick overview.

In this week's Melville Untold, we also profile our local 'day trade champions' and the unique subculture the exceptional stores and artisans at the Bamboo Centre have created.

We sat down with Carmen van de Merwe, the co-founder and owner of Service Station Café, which recently turned 25 years old. We wanted to find out what it takes to go that long, and what it means to build an iconic corner like theirs within the ever-changing landscape of our diverse community.

Read the full article and find out what makes them so loved by so many Melvillains and people from surrounding areas who have become regulars and loyal supporters of the Service Station Café, their catering arm and brand.

In this week’s Melville Untold:

🗞️ Melville’s Day Trade Champions (Long form article)
🤍 2 New sections (Markets Watch & Melville Koppies Check-in)
🌸 Lots of amazing family-friendly events! (Like the Magic-Melville: Pretty In Pink event & lots more)
