Kenya lost 62 elephants to drought in the six months to December even as the Wildlife ministry rushed to build water pans in National Parks to arrest more deaths, Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala revealed while addressing the National Assembly’s Committee on Finance.

He said the country lost the elephants between August and December 2021.

“Through August to December, 62 elephants have died due to drought. We are rushing to build water pans in our parks including Tsavo that is most affected...We as the Tourism Promotion Fund (TPF) are currently considering a request from the State Department for Wildlife of Sh200 million for the establishment of water pans, drilling of boreholes, dams and provision of water in Tsavo National Park,” Mr Balala said.

Senior US senator Lindsey Graham called for "somebody in Russia" to assassinate President Vladimir Putin after Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.

The Republican Senator invoked a Julius Caesar-style assassination of the Kremlin strongman.

"How does this end? Somebody in Russia has to step up to the plate... and take this guy out...The only way this ends is for somebody in Russia to take this guy out. You would be doing your country - and the world - a great service," the senator said during an appearance on Fox News' Hannity show and in a series of incendiary tweets on Thursday.

Grammy award-winning artist, Burna Boy has survived a car accident that left him slightly hurt.

The singer took to his Instagram story to confirm reports that he crashed his Ferrari after ramming into a car in Lekki.

He wrote: “Yes it’s true. I had a bad accident in my Ferrari today. My leg just hurts a little, but I’m fine,” adding that “It’s just funny how everyone came out with phones recording me instead of trying to help (I guess they were too excited to see me regardless of the situation) but I love you all. Gambo got me."
