Happy Friday, everyone!

*i almost missed our learning day *

It’s time for another Friday class.

Today, we’re focusing on money, alcohol, and work. For many, the 25th is payday; for music producers, it’s just another day to keep hustling. Here’s a tip from one producer to fellow artists:

While it’s important to create a great vibe in the studio, it’s crucial to prioritize delivering your work on time and with care. Before you think about bringing alcohol into the studio, consider its impact.

Alcohol can enhance the mood and bring happiness, but from a producer's perspective, true happiness comes from seeing artists invest in their craft. When you prioritize paying for studio time before indulging in drinks, it shows respect for the work and the producer. It’s disheartening when payment is overshadowed by alcohol.

Producers rely on artists to cover expenses and maintain the workflow. Mixing alcohol with professionalism can lead to misunderstandings, so keep them separate.

As creatives, we must respect each other's work. Money is an essential tool for sustaining your career, so prioritize paying for your sessions just as you would spend on alcohol. This approach will grant you better access to a producer’s creative world.

Remember, alcohol can boost confidence or undermine it. Make sure your energy is aligned before a session. Focus on your work rather than relying on substances to drive creativity.

Dear artists, treat your work and collaborators with careβ€”like fragile eggs. Every action in your creative space deserves love and respect. Work hard and smart; recognize that the people supporting your career deserve appreciation, especially when you’re feeling celebratory.

Have a fantastic weekend! Don’t forget the biggest party of the yearβ€”ALL BLACKSCOOP’s birthday celebration is coming to town! Join us to celebrate with your favorite producers, artists, and fans from around the world.

**Welcome to Friday School**

As the year comes to an end, many of us are still navigating our journeys, often surrounded by the same artists we started with. Today, let’s reflect on our experiences and remind ourselves not to let pride and fame overshadow our beginnings and those who supported us.

When you collaborate with someone, your habits and behaviors are closely observed. This understanding helps build a genuine connection, allowing everyone to grow together.

To my brothers striving for fame: remember that new faces will come into your life, drawn to your success. This shift can distract you from those who were there when you had nothing. It’s crucial not to forget your original circle.

If you find success, invest in your people. Create opportunities for them that can sustain them even as you rise. This way, when you wish to give back to the community, no one will question your contributions, as you’ll be honoring those who stood by you during tough times.

The essence of music and art is to celebrate the entire movement that supported you, not just individual achievements. Those who believed in you when you were starting out deserve a place at your table as partners, not just fans.

Remember, people and money come and go, but contributions and sacrifices are rare. Acknowledge those who helped you grow, just as an artist relies on producers for success, and vice versa.

Never forget your foundation. This support system will be crucial, especially in challenging times. Don’t let fame trick youβ€”humility and humanity will carry you further.

To my producer friends: artists can be forgetful when success comes. Protect your peace. It's okay if you feel overlooked; keep hustling, and genuine respect and support will find you.

Join me next week for Friday School and experience your own mental workout.

Stay winning and keep producing superstars. You’ve got this!

EYE OPENING✌️🀝

11/10/2024

Throughout my journey of growing up, I’ve encountered many people with diverse characters. I’ve learned that love and support often depend on personal gain. In the music industry, I’ve seen passionate artists dedicated to their craft, but when success begins to materialize, many find themselves isolated or embroiled in legal battles over recognition and survival. The sacrifices made often seem to vanish, leaving one feeling unappreciated.

To my producer friends, I understand the difficulty in trusting or investing in artists. The sacrifices we make can feel futile when our hard work doesn’t translate into mutual benefit.

However, it’s important to acknowledge that some artists can grow and thrive alongside the people who supported them. My discussions with over 20 top producers reveal a common sentiment: many no longer want to work with artists. This is a trend artists should recognize.

In South Africa, many producers struggle financially and battle depression, often returning to 9-to-5 jobs, while the artists they helped gain recognition seem unresponsive. This creates a disheartening dynamic where talented producers remain broke as artists succeed.

While SAMRO payments play a role, they are insufficient to transform a producer's life. It’s frustrating to see artists perform successfully while neglecting to secure fair compensation for the producers behind their music. Even a small percentage from performances could make a difference.

It’s often said that one hit can change lives, yet many producers with multiple hits still find themselves struggling, hoping for a better tomorrow. This cycle highlights a societal issue where individuals take without uplifting those who supported their journey.

To my fellow producers: you are not alone. Your time, energy, and creativity deserve recognition. It's crucial for us to become not just producers but also businesspeople, taking control of our destinies.

Remember, you are the foundation of this industry. You are the structure and the face of the music we create. It's time for artists to give back and for producers to reclaim their worth.
