Day of Reconciliation | 16 December
Today invites us to pause not only to reflect on our country’s past, but on our own responsibility in how we engage with others.
Reconciliation, I have learned, is deeply personal. It is shaped by how we listen, how we hold space for difference, and how willing we are to show up with honesty and care. Through my work, I see this play out in collaborative spaces in rooms where difficult conversations take place, where diverse voices meet, and where trust is built quietly, often over time.
Reconciliation asks more than words. It asks for empathy, accountability, and the courage to remain engaged even when progress feels slow or uncomfortable. Social cohesion is not automatic it is intentional, relational, and sustained by everyday choices.
On this Day of Reconciliation, I hold space for reflection and hope, and for the belief that healing and connection are ongoing and that each of us has a role to play in shaping our shared future.
