POLICE FIND BODY IN RATANDA HOME

The decomposed body of a 36-year-old woman was found in a pool of blood in her bed last night (November 20) at an address in Mnguni Street, Ratanda Proper.

According to Sergeant Moss Maluleke (Communications Officer) of Ratanda SAPS, a call came through at around 21:20 for police assistance at the said address.

The deceased was found naked in her bed.
A tenant at the address reported to police that he had not seen his landlady for a number of days.

On examination of the body, no physical injuries were found, but an investigation is underway.

Police are pleading with the community to come forward with any information that can shed light on this case. You can contact Ratanda Police Station on 016 343 7014 or the Detective Commander on 079 692 4853.

Condolences go out to the family of the deceased as well as loved ones and friends.

SAPS HOLDS "IMBIZO" WITH RATANDA RESIDENTS

The Sedibeng District management of the South African Police Service, under the leadership of Brigadier Sibongile Ndaba, paid a visit to Ratanda on Wednesday, November 20 to discuss the crime in the area.

The meeting was held at the Ratanda Multi-purpose Hall.

Brigadier Ndaba discussed issues such as the reporting of criminal activity, safety tips during the Festive season, the reporting back to complainants about the progress made in cases and the intensification of operations against dodgy second-hand dealers.

According to Sergeant Moss Maluleke (Corporate Communications: Ra SAPS), community members were offered a platform to voice their concerns regarding the high crime rate in the area and Brigadier Ndaba promised that police visibility would be beefed up over the coming season.

Ratanda SAPS Station Commander, Lieutenant-Colonel Muleleki Isaac Ramotshabi, encouraged residents to volunteer as community patrollers and neighbourhood watch members in order to assist in the fight against crime. He also thanked the community for taking part in this imbizo.

ROAD SAFETY THIS FESTIVE SEASON STARTS WITH A SAFE CAR ... AND A SAFE MINDSET!

Tyres, check. Oil, check. Mind … check.

We are fast approaching the holiday season and many of our members are preparing themselves for long, inter-provincial travel during the festive season. Ahead of the expected increase in road traffic, the AA South Africa encourages motorists to ensure that their vehicles are mechanically sound and travel-ready before they embark on long trips.

The AA provides a reliable, trustworthy, and credible way to do just that through its 125-point offered through AA Auto Centres or at one of the many AA Quality Approved outlets around South Africa. The 125-point check not only gives owners a detailed snapshot of the health of their vehicles, but expert technicians can also perform repairs and maintenance to ensure hassle-free motoring for your holiday.

Schools officially close for 2024 on 11 December, and many businesses will also begin winding down operations around this time ahead of their own festive season breaks. If you have not done so yet, visit an outlet soon to get your vehicle checked before it is too late.

Beyond the mechanical soundness of the vehicle, an often-overlooked element of motoring is the wellness of the driver. In appreciation of mental health awareness, and in the interests of improved road safety, the AA also appeals to motorists to ensure they are mentally prepared for their journeys. This includes an appreciation for the likely congestion on major routes, and consideration for their general mental well-being ahead of embarking on a long journey.

Fatigue, both mental and physical, is a significant contributor to lapses in concentration on the road, and the AA urges drivers to be alert and aware when they are behind the wheel. Being tired while driving has been compared to being intoxicated while driving and can contribute to serious crashes, especially when driving at higher speeds or at night. Feeling sleepy or drowsy, delayed reflexes, impatience, and indecisiveness are some of the indicators of fatigue.

Should you be experiencing any of these indicators and believe that your driving may be impaired, the AA advises that you rest and regather yourself before continuing your journey. Remember that your state of mind not only affects your passengers but also all other road users, so it is critical that you are in the right state of mind to operate a vehicle.

And it is not just vehicle and mental health the AA is advocating for, personal safety while on the road is also an important element of travelling for which we have a solution.

The AA’s Amica device is a small, personal hand-held device which alerts the nearest security or medical service provider to your location and immediately dispatches assistance if you need it. This is another layer of products and services of the AA to keep you mobile and safe on the road.

End-of-the-year journeys are a tradition in South Africa and should create lasting memories for the whole family. If you are planning on a road trip this year, remember to keep your vehicle and mind well maintained and ready for the journey, and ready to create memories to last a lifetime.

THE MIDWEEK MESSAGE ✝️

He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea." (Luke 18:2-3)

This parable that Jesus shared is known as the Parable of the Unjust Judge but also more commonly and appropriately known as the Parable of the Persistent Widow. In ancient days, there would usually be a judge that presided over every town. Those who had problems were free to go to the judge and have their case heard, pretty much like our magistrate’s courts. The judge was expected to be fair, to judge righteously and to recognize that judgment ultimately belonged to God (Deuteronomy 1:16-17).

However, in this particular parable; the judge was unjust and had no fear of God. Jesus shares that a needy widow comes before the judge to plead her case but this unjust judge repeatedly ignored this woman’s case. The widow kept coming back until the judge eventually said to himself, “even though I don’t fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy, I’m going to give her justice because she is wearing me out with her constant requests.” This widow’s persistence ensured she received justice.

We may sometimes feel like this woman when we go through life but Jesus encourages us that unlike this unjust judge in the parable, we have a just judge who will hear the pleas of his chosen ones who cry out to him day and night. We are further encouraged to be persistent in our prayers. Being persistent in prayer is to pray and not give up, you pray until you see the answer, you keep going to God in faith.

Whatever situation you may be going through, we all are in need of God’s intervention. Some prayers are answered immediately and others might take a bit longer but Jesus said, “keep on asking, keep on knocking, keep on seeking….” (Mathew 7:7 amp).
Trust that God hears you and will respond in his perfect timing. When we understand that God is faithful and attentive to our prayers, we are encouraged to keep praying, even when the answers are not immediate.

Trusting in God's faithfulness means believing that He has our best interests at heart and that He is working all things together for our good, even when we cannot see it. God wants us to recognise that the one to whom we pray is nothing like the unjust Judge. He cares for us. He wants to answer our requests.

So, whether you experience:
▪️Problems at home – PRAY
▪️problems at work - PRAY
▪️Problems with the country – PRAY
▪️Problems with your heath - PRAY

If a helpless woman, with no weapons (but persistence) could get her way with a hard-hearted judge imagine what you and I can do because we have a father that loves us, cares for us and listens to our cries.

Daniel persisted in prayer for 21 days (Daniel 10:12) and he got the answer. So let me encourage you to PUSH.
