MK Party Seeks Court Order Against SABC Over Misleading Use of 'GNU' Term

Today, the MK party filed a report at the court, requesting an urgent order to stop the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) from using the term "GNU" in its broadcasts. The party claims that SABC's use of the term is misleading to the people of South Africa.

GNU, which stands for Government of National Unity, is a concept related to power-sharing agreements in post-conflict situations. The MK party argues that the term is being misused by the SABC, leading to confusion and misunderstanding among the public about the current political landscape.

Mpumalanga Premier Mandla Ndlovu to deliver SOPA, State of the Province Address

It is all systems go as Mpumalanga Premier, Mr Mandla Ndlovu prepares to deliver the State of the Province Address [SOPA] on 31 July 2024 in Mbombela.

SOPA is opportune for the Premier to present the priorities of the 7th administration and the practical steps to make them a reality.

Research studies identify Mpumalanga among the provinces with prospects of economic growth, through the tourism offering, rich agriculture and mining. It is home to coal mines that contribute to the country’s energy grid.

The Premier is expected to give a glimpse of the plans to boast the economy. Over the years, the province recorded a steady rise of households with access to basic services such as water. The number increased from 1 134 864 in 2019 to 1 235 476 in 2022 [Stats SA].

The Premier and the Executive Council are intensifying service delivery improvement efforts, as well as measures to keep citizens safe in their backyard. He will shed more light during SOPA, including the role of the much-vaunted crime prevention wardens, after a meeting with SAPS’ top brass.

Do not miss SOPA on 31 July 2024 at 10h00.
