LOADSHEDDING UPDATE ❗️⚠️⚠️
05 DECEMBER 2024

Stage 3 loadshedding will be implemented today at 16:00 until 05:00 on Saturday as previously communicated, followed by Stage 1 loadshedding until 16:00. ❗️

Thereafter, Stage 2 loadshedding will be implemented from 16:00 until 05:00 on Sunday. Loadshedding will then be suspended from 05:00 until 16:00 on Sunday and Stage 1 loadshedding will resume from 16:00 until 05:00 on Monday.❗️

The lower stages of loadshedding are as a result of the return to service of some generation units in the past 48 hours, coupled with the anticipated lower weekend demand. ⚠️

Eskom will announce the outlook of the week ahead on Sunday and will communicate should any significant changes occur.⚠️

LOAD SHEDDING UPDATE🚨

Stage 2 loadshedding will be implemented from 05:00 until 16:00 on Tuesday. Thereafter, Stage 3 loadshedding will be implemented until 05:00 on Wednesday

With the current intensified maintenance aimed at improving the fleet performance, we had a setback of three generating units (2 148MW) not coming back online as anticipated. ❗️

This coupled with a loss of six generating units (3 113MW), and projected increase in electricity demand requires Stage 2 loadshedding to be implemented from 05:00 on Tuesday until 16:00, followed by Stage 3 loadshedding until 05:00 on Wednesday.⚠️

This pattern of Stage 2 loadshedding in the morning and Stage 3 loadshedding in the evening will be repeated daily until further notice.🚨

Eskom will closely monitor the power system and communicate any changes should it be required.⚠️

Unplanned outages are currently at 16 231MW of generating capacity, while the capacity out of service for planned maintenance is 8 451MW.🚨

Eskom teams are working tirelessly to ensure that 4 921MW of generating capacity is returned to service before the end of the week.🙏🏾

Eskom's load forecast for the evening peak demand for Tuesday is 23 011MW.⚠️

We would like to thank those who do heed the call to use electricity sparingly and efficiently, including switching off geysers and pool pumps from 17:00 to 21:00, as this lowers demand and helps in alleviating the pressure on the power system and contributes to lower stages of loadshedding.❗️

JUST IN: There's another road crash that has claimed lives in Mpumalanga.

Four people were killed this morning when a minibus taxi and a light motor vehicle (sedan) collided head on on R23 between Val and Standerton.

The four were all occupants in the sedan. They included three adult males and one male child. They died at the scene of the crash.

The driver of the taxi and the sole occupant in the vehicle at the time of the crash was seriously injured.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. However, dangerous overtaking cannot be ruled out.

Eskom is busy with all the above mentioned areas to get things back to normal so that electricity can be back normal 🙏🏾

Due to improved generation capacity availability and adequate emergency reserves, loadshedding will be suspended at 12:00 midday today until 17:00. ❗️

Stage 2 loadshedding will resume from 17:00 until 21:00 this evening.

Thereafter, loadshedding will be suspended again from 21:00 today until 16:00 on Sunday. ⚠️

Eskom will publish the week outlook tomorrow afternoon and communicate should any significant changes occur.❗️
