Chiefs Star Amongst 5 Players Who Could Make Their PSL Debuts In 2021
Brylon Petersen made a return to Kaizer Chiefs in November last year, but despite featuring on the bench on a couple of occasions, is still awaiting his first team debut in Amakhosi colours.
There have been whispers about Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt potentially turning to the 25-year-old, with first team regulars Itumeleng Khune and Daniel Akpeyi failing to impress in Chiefsβ stuttering start to the season.
There is also Bruce Bvuma, but he is largely considered Chiefsβ third-choice goalkeeper, and finds himself more or less in the same situation as Petersen.
Still only 25, Peterson, who recently received a one-year extension with the club, still has time on his side and is believed to be a future prospect with Khune and Akpeyi both well over the 30-year age mark.
Gavin Hunt has been known to throw a spanner in the works, especially if things are not going his way and it will not come as a surprise if he hands the former Wits University man his Chiefs debut in the new year.
Chiefs currently languish in 13th position on the DStv Premiership standings and their shaky defence has conceded 11 goals in their eight league matches played thus far.
Perhaps a shakeup in the goalkeeping department can revive the Amakhosi's season and be the tonic Chiefs need to turn things around in 2021.
