Whale encounter in Plett!
Jaed T Reid, also known as S0ulty_shoots, sent us this footage of a whale encounter on Sunday, 8 September. They were 50m away when the whale approached them in Plettenberg Bay. This close encounter is truly a remarkable event to witness.
This week we celebrate the 19th annual SA National Parks Week, which grants free access to most of the 22 national parks for day visitors, especially people from the local communities. Some of the parks will be extending the week to include the weekend. Jeff Ayliffe visited our very own Wilderness National Park.

It's the Sanparks Honoury Rangers annual Indaba this week, and it is being hosted by the Wilderness region. Honoury Rangers from all over South Africa will be attending. Lynne McEwan of the Sanparks Honoury Rangers, Wilderness section, explains the week.
Shaela Heystek's production
A nineteen-year-old dancer who matriculated at York High School last year is the director of a dance production that features items performed by current York High dance students, three other dance schools and guest performances by local musicians and singers. Shaela Heystek's production It's Classic will be showcased at the George Arts Theatre on Friday 20 September (19:00) and Saturday 21 September (15:00 and 19:00).

Matt Ashwell hiked up Table Mountain on the coldest day of the year last week, and shot a video of the snowfall on the pedestrian walkway near the Cable Car station.
His video went viral within hours of him sending it, with many people wondering how Matt had gotten to the summit, with the Aerial Cablecars being closed for maintenance. Jeff Ayliffe of Group Editors live is a friend of Matt's, and he caught up with Matt on a Zoom call to hear about the details of the 'snow shoot'.

This morning, on 28 August, Matt Ashwell hiked up Table Mountain, braving the cold weather that has made its presence felt. With breathtaking views and the crisp morning air, it's no wonder that the chill outside is so noticeable today.
