What a rare privilege to spot, not one, but two Cape Clawless Otters (Aonyx capensis) today on our beach walk along the Chintsa West Coast.
Mom and pup were observed in the shallow surf hunting and scavenging for food in amongst the rocks and seaweed.
When it got a bit cold little pup climbed out the chilly water to sun itself under the watchful eye of Mom swimming a couple of meters away.
Both seemed unperturbed by the excited onlookers and went about their search for food for about 20 minutes before heading up the beach to the security of their den hidden in the dunes.
What a wonderful experience and great way to end off the year.
