Tucked behind the boerewors curtain, The Fresh Meat Studio is home to Mr Cat & the Jackal. Our services can be split up between two different categories: Music Production & Recording Studio.
With over 13 years in the music industry, Jacques du Plessis and Gertjie Besselsen have extensive experience in music production specialising in Film, TV & theatre. The have four Mr. cat & the Jackal releases behind their name, all of which were recorded at The Fresh Meat Studio. With the knowledge and experience built up, this multi-instrumentalist due possesses the ability to provide services including; original songwriting, scoring/composing, recording, Foley as well as record, mix and master the final tracks.
Having often been asked to use their signature gypsy style, Mr. Cat can also pitch many different styles of music and genres.

The aim of our recording studio is to make you feel comfortable. The open plan, home studio is rigged in a way to accommodate musicians who wants to create their own atmosphere suitable to their unique project.
We recognise that artists often have a trusted partner they prefer working with, especially in a studio environment. Bring your own producer or recording engineer, a plug and play if you will. We invite you to make the space your own, previous day set up can be arranged so that you can focus on your session.
The Fresh Meat Studio also offers in-house recording engineers to help you produce, record, mix and master your project weather it’s a demo or a full length album.
We encourage musicians and bands to get in touch for a personalised quote that best suits their project.
Otherwise our two basic packages are:
Studio Hire - R 1000 per day
8 hour day between 09:00 - 21: 00
Basic studio setup only
Own engineer, hardware and software required
Recording session - R 2500 per day
8 hour day between 09:00 - 21: 00
Basic studio setup
Including an audio engineer with all hardware and software needed.
Mixing - R 1000 per song
