STATEMENT ON MEMBERS REPLACED AS MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT

Umkhonto Wesizwe Party notes the spurious claims circulating in the media around Members of Parliament that have been expelled.

This is contrary to the truth. On the swearing day 25 June 2024 , 12 members were informed that they would be replaced as MP’s.

They were further advised not to proceed to avail themselves for the swearing in, or if they so, we will proceed with the understanding that they would be replaced at a later stage, pending the Parliamentary procedures.

It’s also important to note that leading up tothe elections, the MK Party IEC list was comprised by saboteurs who went on to populate on the IEC system with a list of their friends, family members and neighbours.

As MK Party, we made a promise to our people that we would have members of parliament who would be reflective of society, which is exactly what we aim to achieve and will continue to do.

A case has been opened at the Sandton police station regarding the list.

The Chief Whip of Party in the National Assembly wrote letters to the Speaker, requesting
that these members be replaced by other MK members.

These letters were only processed
yesterday and letters of termination were sent to individual members by the Speaker of
Parliament.

Subsequently, the letter of the Chief Whip to Parliament was leaked and certain terminated members further leaked them to social media. It is this ill-discipline and rogue behaviour that has led to the spurious misleading reports.

We place it on record that all
internal MK Party processes were followed. All replaced members were informed of the intention to replace them as MP’s representing the MK Party.

We have a tough task ahead of restoring the dignity of the marginalised and fighting for the return of the land to its rightful owners.

We will continue to fight the change our country.

The MK Party has bought a transformer for the community of ward 11 (Mpande VD) in Umzumbe in southern KwaZulu-Natal.

The previous transformer burnt down, and no one came to the aid of the community which lived in darkness.

During last month's by-elections, the community overwhelmingly backed the party to win the ward from the ANC.

The MK Party wishes to address recent developments concerning the resignation of our Secretary General, Comrade Arthur Zwane.

After receiving and carefully considering Comrade Zwane's resignation letter dated July 1, 2024, in which he cited an excessive workload from MKP and a desire to focus on private business, President Zuma has nonetheless decided not to accept the resignation.

The primary reason, among others, is that the MK Party’s founding HUVO in Bela Bela outlined pivotal tasks essential for preparing us for future challenges, particularly strengthening our organizational structures in anticipation of the upcoming 2026 local government elections and beyond.
