🚨VAR Implementation Update for SA Football🇿🇦

The National Treasury has blocked the plan to reallocate funds from cash-strapped sports federations, meaning their budgets remain unchanged.

However, Treasury has approved R20 million from a cancelled project to help SAFA begin rolling out VAR.

Minister Gayton McKenzie and SAFA are continuing with the project:
– A VAR Project Team is in place
– A technical trip to Spain was conducted for system testing and validation

Timeline: Full VAR implementation is now expected July–August 2026 — meaning it will NOT be available for the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.
