New Apostolic Church Southern Africa | Music – "When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder" (official)
"When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder" composed by James Milton Black, stands as a timeless hymn within the Christian tradition, inspired by the biblical verse Revelation 20:12. Written in the late 19th century, the hymn captures the essence of Christian hope and anticipation for a divine gathering in the afterlife.
The lyrics poignantly reference the biblical concept of a heavenly roll call, drawing from the imagery in Revelation 20:12, which speaks of the names of the faithful being recorded in the book of life. This imagery serves as a powerful metaphor for the ultimate reunion of believers in the presence of God.
James M. Black's composition has become a staple in religious gatherings, memorial services, and moments of reflection. Its message resonates across generations, offering solace and reaffirming the Christian belief in a joyous reunion when the roll is called up yonder – a moment of divine recognition and eternal communion for the faithful.
This arrangement by composer Walter Cupido was performed at a festive concert on the occasion of the visit of Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber (ret.) in 2023 during the weekend of service for the departed.

New Apostolic Church Southern Africa | Music – “Lord, I have loved the habitation” (official)
The year 2015 started with a highlight for NAC Southern Africa, namely, the first visit Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider to the Eastern Cape. On Sunday 25 January he conducted a divine service in the congregation of Motherwell on the outskirts of Gqeberha, and this was transmitted to all congregations of the District Church Southern Africa. In preparation, a festive concert was held at the Palmridge church in Gqeberha on Saturday 24 January. Members from the East London and Gqeberha regions formed the choirs and orchestra for the concert.
“Lord, I have loved the habitation” was composed by Ivan Diedricks (1936-1995). Diedricks had written a number of well-loved choir hymns which continue to enhance the choral repertoire of the new Apostolic Church. He was blessed with an exceptional voice and he featured as baritone soloist on various NAC music recordings.

New Apostolic Church Southern Africa | Music - " God Be with You " (official)
The hymn "God Be with You" also known as "God Be with You Till We Meet Again." Was written by Jeremiah Eames Rankin (1828-1904), an American Congregationalist minister, and hymn writer. The exact date of its composition is believed to be in the mid-19th century, around 1880.
Rankin said this about the hymn, “Written…as a Christian goodbye, it was called forth by no person or occasion, but was deliberately composed as a Christian hymn on basis of the etymology of “goodbye,” which is “God be with you.” He got the idea for the first stanza of the song when he saw the dictionary definition of "good-bye" was short for "God be with you."
The hymn quickly gained popularity and has since become a staple in many Christian denominations, often sung at the end of worship services, church events, and other occasions where people part ways.
The tune often associated with this hymn was composed by William Gould Tomer (1833-1896), an American businessman and musician. The combination of Rankin's heartfelt lyrics and Tomer's simple, yet melodic tune, has contributed to the hymn's enduring popularity over the years.
"God Be with You" continues to be cherished as a comforting and reassuring hymn, reminding believers of God's presence, protection, and the hope of future reunion with loved ones.
This rendition was performed for the conclusion of Holy Communion for the Departed, on the 6th of February 2022, at a divine service for Confirmands conducted by District Apostle John Kriel in Silvertown.

A Pentecost that inspired people all around the world
Divine service, and fellowship: the 2023 Pentecost festivities electrified New Apostolic Christians around the globe. The conditions for the South African hosts, however, were anything but easy. Power cuts are still a somewhat smaller problem in the lives of South Africans considering an unemployment rate of about 35 per cent and one of the highest crime rates in the world, which make tragedy a part of daily life. With this Pentecost feast, the brothers and sisters have proven what the Chief Apostle formulated in the course of the divine service: “If this Spirit dwells in you, lives in your heart, you can do what is impossible for human beings.”
District Apostle Leonard R. Kolb from the United States, visited the congregation of Heideveld. At the end of the service, the choir performed a special arrangement of “God is our strength and refuge”, number 179 from the English hymnal (in the video).https://nac.today/en/a/1172740#nac #newapostolic #nactoday #SouthAfrica #ChiefApostle #DistrictApostleMeetingDAMI #Pentecost #Divineservice #concert
