WE DID IT! The Flipflopi Expedition sailed 500 kilometers along the historically significant East African coastline, to meet and inspire thousands of people who have joined the plastic revolution. The expedition arrived in Stone Town, welcomed by the Government of Zanzibar, the President of the United Nations Environment Assembly and several grassroot organisations... "We are the dhow countries, we are the custodians of the Indian Ocean, we are the ones that must all lead this plastic revolution from our shores to the rest of the world..."

Here’s the last video of our Kampkombi adventures - when we visited the beautiful Gamkaskloof (Die Hel) near Prins Albert.
We departed from Kogman & Keisie Guest Farm in Montagu - where we had a lovely overnight stay to make the trip from Cape Town feel a bit shorter.

Kampkombi Cederberg
Last weekend we enjoyed the most memorable experience staying over and immersing ourselves in the CapeNature Cederberg Wilderness Area. Experiencing this magical part of our country was ideal in our Volkswagen California Coast camper van. The Kampkombi really handled the roads like a treat - so we could focus more on our adventure and less on driving. Being such a vast area, we really enjoyed being able to have our creature comforts with us wherever we went - either at our home base at the Algeria camp, or driving around exploring the rock formations and caves. And of course, watching the stars! We hiked to the waterval far up in the crack of the mountain, and our Naturehike Africa gear made every footfall easier. Damn, I love that backpack! We also used the Travel Duffel Bag and were most impressed - it packs a punch but takes up little to no space. Sheer genius!
Cape Nature Grootvadersbosch Redwoods
The Californian Redwoods of the Grootvadersbosch Conservancy Area are over 100 years old. The tallest one is over 40m tall. These guys are growing here because Grootvadersbosch was once a forestry station.

Beautiful Grootvadersbosch! We spent some time here a couple of months ago and completely fell in love with the indigenous forest of this CapeNature reserve in the Langeberg. The forest is the most precious and largest remaining bit of forest in the Southwestern Cape. It’s also mountain biking heaven and we can’t wait to hike to the swimming hole down by the river and see the majestic redwood trees again. Grootvadersbosch is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an extention to the Cape Floral Kingdom. 🌳
As I sat here in the Volkswagen #californiacoast in which we are camping for the weekend (we call him Kampkombi), a robin (Jan Frederik) flew into the van and fluttered about and then went on its way again! How wonderful!
