✨ Reignite the Spark in Your Business ✨
If you're not excited about your business or excited about your products or offers, how do you expect that others would be?
Or maybe you haven’t even started because fear is holding you back? YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Every entrepreneur—especially heart-centered ones—goes through seasons of doubt. But here’s the truth: Your business is meant to evolve, JUST LIKE YOU! šŸ’› The ONLY constant is that nothing stays the same.
LET'S GET GROUNDED:
🌿 Pause. Step away from the pressure of ā€œhaving it all figured out.ā€ Take a deep breath and reconnect with WHY you started. What lights you up? What change do you want to make?
🌿 Breathe. Fear thrives in overthinking. Action, no matter how small, dissolves fear. ONE STEP AT A TIME! Share a post, tell your story, and connect with someone who needs what you offer. Your passion is still there—it just needs space to breathe. Just allow.
🌿 Thrive. Excitement comes from momentum. Try something NEW—change up your offers, go live, or create something that feels truly YOU. Your business is meant to support you, not drain you. Go back to the drawing board if you need to and NEVER EVER be afraid to start over, dear ONES.
Let’s make business feel GOOD again. What’s one thing you can do today to bring joy back into your work? Drop it in the comments! ā¬‡ļøāœØ

9 Spiritual Gifts āœØšŸ•Æ

- word of knowledge
- word of wisdom
- gift of faith
- gift of healing
- work of miracles
- gift of prophecy
- discerning of spirits
- different kinds of tongues
- interpretation of tongues

God imparts His divine nature into the core of our personalities to raise our vibration in His holiness and solidify our sanctification.

These gifts support your walk as a soldier for Christ and will give you the necessary ammunition as you walk with God's anointing in your daily life. The Holy Spirit can impart any one of these gifts through any believer at any time that he wants to do so. Each ONE is a major power gift; all of them direct, supernatural, miraculous manifestations from Holy Spirit. Any believer can position themselves in the Perfect Place to receive these gifts from the Lord.

1 Cor 12:7) A manifestation of the Spirit is given to each person for the common good: 8) to one is given a message of wisdom through the Spirit, to another, a message of knowledge by the same Spirit, 9) to another, faith by the same Spirit, to another, gifts of healing by the ONE spirit, 10) to another, the performing of miracles, to another, prophecy, to another, distinguishing between spirits, to another, different kinds of tongues, to another, interpretation of tongues. 11)ONE and the same SPIRIT is active in all these distributing to each person as He wills.

1 Cor 12:31 But desire the greater gifts, And I will show you an even better way.

In 1 Cor 13 God says if you have all the gifts of prophecy, understand all the mysteries, and have all knowledge, but you don't have love, you have nothing.

Experiencing a sales team work on your company’s behalf is fantastic.

Imagine waking up to the Stripe notification that you got a $10k deposit on a 12 month $100k deal?

It’s great.

Recently one of our clients at Syroscape shared a sales call where he closed a $5k/m deal for his SaaS.

After he locks in the messaging and the sales process a bit more, he’s on track to pass off the responsibility to another team member.

I’m forming a new habit of reading when I wake up. I’ve been reading a few books on how to build an effective sales team for B2B businesses and the techniques that work best.

If you didn’t know, I’ve run a few offers with my businesses over the years, ranging from low ticket to $50k+ deals.

When I first started, I watched lots of sales training videos, read at least 10 books on selling, each with their own strange acronym and technique that works for themselves.

My close rate was terrible for a year, I was closing ~10%. Pretty lousy.

When I realized that I was costing the business hundreds of thousands in potential revenue, I hired a closer to take over.

After a few weeks of training, we got him a few calls.

Things went well…

for a little while.

We had a few deals come through and getting that ping and Stripe notification was exciting!

I used to spend so much time struggling to close a deal, even though our service delivery was top notch.

I was very happy until I started onboarding the new clients.

On one of the onboarding calls, the client was driving on the highway during the call. He didn’t think that it was important enough for him to take time out of his day to learn how the growth infrastructure would work for him.

He seemed to want to 10x his business without doing any work.

Yes, sales were coming in, but many of the customers weren’t a good fit.

I reviewed the calls and saw that the closer was pitching an illusory dream to the prospects.

Of course, fulfillment isn’t possible when expectations are mismatched.

I promptly refunded him –to the closer’s dismay– and went about building a robust SOP that wouldn’t allow for such mistakes.

So let this be an expensive lesson, that I paid for you.

Before bringing on a closer, make sure your process is well documented.

Record your sales calls

Write a cohesive sales script based on your wining calls

Clearly explain what your service includes and what is not included

A lot of B2B SaaS founders I see start building their sales teams but experience the same thing.

High churn, mismatched expectations (and later refunds) and inconsistent results.

Nothing is more painful than finding perfect leads, getting them started on your SaaS and then churning them days or weeks after they joined.

If you need help building your sales process from lead generation all the way to onboarding, respond to this and we can see if you’re a good fit.

I speak to about 3 founders a week that have made a project management SaaS.

Usually I ask them right off the bat about how they are different to Asana, ClickUp & Monday.

Most don’t have an answer, apart from ā€œwe tailor our solutions to customers.ā€

That’s a service, not a SaaS. I usually politely end the call soon thereafter.

Early stage SaaS founders are competing with behemoths. Check out their annual recurring revenues:

Monday —> $900m ARR

Atlassian (portfolio) —> $5b ARR

Asana —> $700m ARR

You probably think, what can I learn from these massive companies, if I’m no where near those numbers?

There is no company that can escape from the laws of physics and the foundational principles of running a company.

Monday and Atlassian consistently grow at 30-34% each year.

Asana went from $600 ARR and 34% growth to 19% growth.

So what accounted for the -15% slip up?

Their Net Revenue Retention (NRR or the revenue retained from existing customers) was at 115% at $600m ARR, and now it’s hovering around 102%.

13% drop off is killer.

It tells me that customers are buying less and less and they are cutting seats.

Users are still joining, but they are not increasing their contract value as much as they were.

If a trend like this continues, it’s very difficult to bounce back.

Think of that: Asana is still increasing new users of the product, perhaps even increasing, but their revenue growth is shrinking.

Yikes.

On top of this, they are struggling with -9% operating margins.

They have a large portion their users using the ā€œsingle userā€ or ā€œself serveā€ tiers.

This can be dangerous, as the B2C churn rates can be brutal. They do have customers paying hundreds of thousands a year, and those do have NRR expansion, but it’s slowing.

I’m not sure if this slow down is due to belt-tightening for many companies that aren’t in the AI space, other incumbents, or even cheaper custom alternatives like Notion.

What’s clear is that being a broad SaaS is ever more challenging when there are competitors nipping away your market share every day.

So when you are working on product updates, look for every way to make the product more sticky and bring even more value in the long term for each part of your market.

Justifying $100s of thousands for annual contracts is still very possible, but your moat must be durable.

If your company is built for resilient and profitable growth from the start, a -15% down-tick won’t hurt as badly because you actually are creating value and have been profitable for years.

Asana is on the public markets for the world to see. They haven’t had the luxury of positive margins.

When starting a B2B SaaS business, deciding who to target first is crucial.

Should you aim for small businesses (SMBs), mid-market companies, or large enterprises?

There are 2 main approaches

Traditionally, B2B companies like to go big

The old way of thinking says to target large enterprises because they have big budgets and offer high annual contract values (ACVs). They are less likely to churn and need complex solutions, creating a strong moat against competitors. However, landing these big customers takes a long time and requires an expensive, skilled sales team.

Currently in fashion: Start Small

Nowadays, many believe it’s better to start with SMBs and startups. These smaller customers make decisions quickly, typically within 45 days, and have simpler needs. This allows you to iterate on your product faster and find product-market fit more efficiently. Founders can handle early sales themselves, saving on costs. Plus, there’s less competition in this market because many big companies ignore SMBs.

Why you should start selling to SMBs

Shorter sales cycles: SMBs buy faster, leading to rapid growth.

Simpler Needs: It’s easier to develop and refine your product.

Less Competition: Big companies often overlook this market.

The compromise is also possible

You don’t have to choose just one. Consider targeting mid-market companies or specific departments within large enterprises. These segments offer a balance between quicker sales cycles and higher ACVs (Average contract value).

For example, a line-of-business (LOB) strategy focuses on specific departments within enterprises, treating them like individual SMBs within a larger organization.

For new B2B SaaS companies, targeting SMBs is often an easy choice, that I’ve seen the majority of our partners take. It allows for quicker iterations and finding the right PMF.

However I’ve seen companies in the enterprise space exist as well and are crushing it with multiple $200k/y+ contracts with a team of 6 people…

Hybrid approaches balance quick wins and higher revenue opportunities, and who doesn’t like that?
