TRAGIC PASSING OF ANATHI NTAMO

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the tragic passing of Anathi Xolelwa Ntamo who was an extremely promising, talented MICTSETA Film Afrika 2021 - 2022 Camera Department intern.

Having attended Big Fish and been a Digital Filmmaking Volunteer on Encounters, joining the SA FILM Academy - and interning with Film Afrika for a year - she went on to work as a trainee on a number of films - including Noughts & Crosses 2 with Film Afrika - honing her craft and skills.

She will be sorely missed by family, friends and colleagues.

SPARK IN THE DARK THEATRE COMPANY INVITE

Spark in the Dark is a small theatre company based in Cape Town, and their goal is to make theatre happen.

They’d like to extend an invitation to students, to join them for Play Things taking place on the 2nd of February, at Theatrearts, Observatory.

Play Things is a space for new and experimental work, to be performed to a live audience. This month’s theme is Anything Goes and they’re getting ready for an eclectic lineup. From TikTok sensation Celine Tshika’s musical comedy to magic, new scripts, up-and-coming and established comedians, and experimental choose-your-own-adventure plays.

Happy 2025 and may this be the year in which you truly thrive.

The admission window for application to join the SA FILM Academy in 2025 is 1st - 15th June 2025.

The academy has established that many secondary and tertiary graduates have insufficient time to prepare their required qualification certification by January of each year - in order to make the detailed documentation submission required - for possible admission to the SA FILM Academy.

We have therefore positioned our admission application window on 1st - 15th June 2025, which will provide potential applicants with more than enough time to prepare the required documentation for potential admission to the SA FILM Academy programme either as trainee or an intern.

In preparation for your application submission on 1st - 15th June 2025, herewith the following application admission criteria:

Requirements for applications are as follows:

* You have a definite interest in a career in film, television or digital media, the SA Film Academy focuses on technical and production skills behind the camera and on-set

* WE DO NOT PROVIDE IN-SERVICE TRAINING TO ACTORS

* You are between 18 – 35 years of age

* You have a clear, legible, Certified copy of your South African Identification Document (ID) (no older than 3 months)

The FILMSCAPE team, Hennie Pretorius, Chris Gardner and Loubser Claassen conducted an awesome Cinematography & Lighting In the Volume Master Class together with ReelPartners in the majestic FILMSCAPE LED volume at Atlantic Studios in Montague Gardens.
