ABOVE TALENT MODELS - because talent comes from Above! Above Talent Models is a model and talent agency with a difference! for a mainstream agency.

We believe our success lies in our slogan:

We represent people of all ages, sizes and talent who feel they might be a little to short, etc. We do things very different to other agencies and run our business from home. No fancy office, just plain hard work to get our models / talent to succeed! We are a passionate, close knit family orientated agency who strive to

always have an open and honest relationship with our models and clients. The owner of Above Talent Models (Yvette Muller) has many years of experience in the modeling and dancing industry, and more recently, pageantry. She is also involved in youth and women empowerment. We do not sign binding contracts with our models, because if they are not happy with Above Talent, they must be free to leave. However, when you join Above Talent, you may not be registered with another agency. Most agencies have the same clients and it causes confusion if you are with more than one agency. We do not ask any joining fees. While we can’t guarantee that you will book commercials,
print work or even go to castings, we can guarantee
that we will do our best to promote you. The simple fact is: if you make money, we make money!

A few important tips to remember when going for a casting call.

1. Be punctual: Arrive on time or even a little early for your casting call to show professionalism and respect for the casting team’s time.
2. Dress appropriately: Wear simple, form-fitting clothing that showcases your body shape without being distracting. Avoid heavy makeup or accessories that could take away from your natural look.
3. Follow instructions: Listen carefully to any directions given by the casting team and follow them to the best of your ability. This shows that you can take direction well.
4. Be prepared: Bring any necessary materials, if requested to do so by your agency, according to the brief.
5. Be courteous: Treat everyone you encounter at the casting call with respect, from the casting directors to your fellow models. A positive attitude goes a long way.

Remember, casting calls can be competitive, but by following these etiquette guidelines, you can make a positive impression and increase your chances of being selected for the role. Good luck!

Polaroids, Digitals, Roids, Digis … What the heck are they and why do I need them?

In the film days agencies often snapped potential models using film Polaroid cameras as part of the evaluation and vetting processes. Today this is done with digital cameras but the name stuck and it is still used to mean ‘Natural looking snapshots that show a potential agency, client, designer or photographer what you currently look like’ I stress the word ‘Currently’ as it is very important that whatever you submit clearly depicts what you look like NOW. If you have radically changed your look (eg you now have shorter/longer hair, drastic hair colour change, have added tattoos or permanent piercings) then get some new Polariods done that best reflect your current you!. Regardless I suggest getting Polaroids done at least twice a year. These are super important for casting/talent agencies.

What is a modelling portfolio?
A modelling portfolio typically includes 20+ professional photographs highlighting a model's skills and versatility. Upcoming models usually send this collection to agencies to gain representation and secure future work. Agencies may also request a portfolio to determine your suitability for potential shoots and other opportunities. You can make your portfolio available as a digital collection or create a physical copy in the form of a photo book. These are important for high end Modeling agencies.

First impression is everything.

Casting directors sift through countless submissions, searching for that one perfect shot that captures the essence of the character they're casting. Your photo isn't just a snapshot; it's your ticket to catching their eye amidst a sea of hopefuls. Sending in the right shot isn't just important—it's essential. Here are a few do’s and don’ts to keep in mind.

DO's:

✅ Shoot against a plain background for focus.

✅ Keep it natural; let your true essence shine.

✅ Opt for a close-up headshot for maximum impact.

DON'Ts:

❌ Avoid accessories like sunglasses or hats; keep it simple.

❌ Stay away from busy backgrounds or outdoor settings.

❌ Stick to solo shots; no more than one person in the frame.

❌ Say no to cell phone photos; Polaroids capture authenticity best!

This will be a whirlwind trip to shoot a popluar beer brand in UK and Europe.

REQUIREMENTS:
1) Legally 25 yrs and over
2) Black South African male (due to accent)
3) Must have a valid passport for the next 6 months
(Will need to take passport / copies to the casting please)
4) Please list any existing UK or Schengen visas or let us know if applications need to be done on your behalf.
5) A social media presence is ESSENTIAL - Instagram, Facebook and TikTok - no less than 10K followers or your application will not be looked at.

IMPORTANT INFO:
Trip departs SA 13th February, return 3rd March : goes to Ireland, UK, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and Czech Republic

You need to be available beforehand on social media to start driving followers to your trip as well as attend urgent visa applications in person.

You need to showcase your love to meet new people, be an engaging, likeable, quick thinker who can turn any conversation into something we all want to overhear, watch and laugh at.
