A novel and intimate event. Purist without being pretentious, the music of this 3-day event had a distinctly disco sound. Lovers of rolling bass-lines of the minimalist persuasion will appreciate this. Between the dark grooves at night and the low-key house during the day, were scatterings of euphoric vocals and elated melodies.

The past 4 year journey has been incredible, but BRYSONS has proudly come to a close. What started as a prematch playlist amongst friends grew a life of its own as a community platform giving free promotion and endorsements for local DJs and dance music events in the Mother City. As a farewell gift, the legacy will live on with the curated festival music playlists which you can still stream from the website - https://brysonsradio.com

There's far too many people to thank for showing their support & making this worthwhile. So to all the artists who bravely risk their art for us, to the organizers who carry the burdens so that we can experience the music, the photographers who capture the moment so that memories live on and to all unsung heros of the scene: the sound & lighting, bar staff, security, cleaners and transport (even the staff of fast food joints working nightshift on the ride back home) you are all appreciated! Then to YOU, friends and fans, regardless of your social clique or sub-genre preference - this is for you, appreciate.

With that, I leave you with this message: Don't wait for the world to come to us. And let's stop comparing yourselves to the world. There's so much talent in our people of this country. We can take it for granted how fortunate we are to be alive to share in this moment together. So remember to show your support for the scene and local artists in ways that matter: 1) Share (don't just like and listen) 2) Follow (participate in the artist's journey, not just their insta story) and 3) Show up (go to the jol and do so responsibly).

PS: (and yes! and yes!) Princes Place will never die, like phone batteries at the jol thanks to .Connect.

Why we do what we do

Festivals are experiences we feel and share with others. Is the music that brings us together. Each event is unique and the music reflects that diversity of sound and experience. We believe that these moments are not once off, we take them with us even when the party’s over. Everybody loves seeing the photos after the event, and so in a similar way BRYSONS is going to preserve those memories, just with music. Photos show you what happened. The music takes you there again, anytime.

Cape Town was named the World’s No.1 Events and Festivals Destination (World Travel Awards). Events like Rocking the Daisies, Origin and the Eden’s have been around for about a decade or more – spearheading a growing trend for outdoor music festivals. These are an important cultural force for us and are big opportunity generators for the local economy.

BRYSONS is a natural part of this trend and will grow as the space grows. We want to pull more of the world’s attention to the tip of Africa as a world-class experiences destination. It’ll attract more international headliners to come here, whilst also showcasing our local talent to the rest of the world and bring more exposure and growth for the country in the larger scheme of this.

Our focus is the music – carefully curated. I finally understood what and why we exist when someone tagged a friend in a post and said “this is the page with the playlists”. That’s the simple truth of what and why BRYSONS is what it is and why we will keep on doing what we do.
